This post has been horribly managed, I apologize for anyone who read it before this final edit <_<.
Wondering if anyone else has this laptop and has had issues with it. My uncle has been trying to play FF14 but hasn't had any luck because what is referred to as the Gray Screen of Death. Googling it brought up a list of websites relating to the problem, but all of them talked about flashing the BIOS which I have 0 knowledge of which means he'll have even less. I also read it can brick the computer if you go wrong and since this is his only computer, I doubt he'll want to even attempt it. I'm assuming it's the GSOD because his display driver is crashing.
Most of the threads are over a year old, so is there a permanent fix that doesn't require flashing the BIOS that anyone has found since then?
GPU is a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870, CPU is a Intel Core i7 720QM(1.6GHz).
*EDIT*
A little additional information, he said when he would have no real problems running games before updating his drivers except FF14. After updating the drivers, no matter what game he tries to play it crashes the display drivers and forces him to hardboot the system. Unfortunately I can't give you any specific drivers at the moment, but he tried to do it as soon as a month ago and it was causing the same problems as a year ago.
