Its all a matter of what you consider design, do you do layouts with tables first or do you do your images first? Do you layout your whole site in some shitty overpriced auto coding software?

I use 3 things when I make websites, VIM, GIMP, and sometimes Flash.
I wouldnt consider what I do in GIMP to be design, or Flash, since all the parts are not together at all, the first time they really come together outside of my head is when I put it all into VIM and look at it. So, I consider VIM my design, thats where I decide what I like and what I dont and make my changes.

No, I design websites for a living, I just think it's stupid to say you design a site in solely notepad.

When you make something in photoshop or flash you are designing the elements of the website whether it's an interface or a bunch of buttons or a logo or whatever. HTML isn't design, it's just code that puts your design in the right place. The things you make in photoshop and flash or whatever you like to use are parts of the design so how can it not be considered design? When you're thinking up a layout, then creating it, you're designing.

As far as the definition of design, there are many and there are contradicting views which I won't get into, it's just that I've studied design so I have strong opinions on this.

And no I don't use some shitty overpriced auto coding software, I am anti-shitty overpriced auto coding software.
