Dont know if many people watched the old anime, was called fighting spirit here. Anyways if you didnt know they started them up again picking up from where they left off. I liked the shows alot and am glad they started making them again. Heres a link to the first episode of new season.

I loved the old Hajime no Ippo series, been waiting for this for a long time.
The first episode didn't disappoint me, although Miyata seems to fail a bit.. He better own that bloodycross guy or ippo will get too far ahead >_>

They kinda failed with that character imo. For being ippos main rival, he sucks ass. If he loses that fight they should just kill him off.

So much awesome shit to watch this season; it's just standard as far as having a bunch of different worthwhile things to watch, but after last... seems like it's above and beyond what it really is. lol

I have been really really interested in this anime series for awhile, just never got around to watching it.
I just watched a bit of what OP posted, and it looks amazing
how many episodes were there in the old series? or is this a remake?

Nice to see that other people enjoy "Hajime no Ippo." It's always been one of my favorite shows, animated or not. I've often suggested it to people who don't normally enjoy anime, but who do appreciate a series with excellent character development.
As for whether this is a remake or not, it isn't. The "Hajime no Ippo" manga has been running for almost twenty years, so there is an abundance of material to pull from.

This is the second season of the anime, the first season has 76 episodes.

An ep came out today yeah, the subs are decent but if you wait 1-2 days a better sub will be available.
Anyone else disapointed in the animation so far? I watched the original series and the 2 OVAs for the first time like a month ago and coming straight off that to this makes me feel like somethings missing. In ep2 half the time Miyatas face looked really bad and the whole fight looked off. Also the music is forgettable why cant they just use the original stuff. Oh well i'll continue to watch hopefully it gets better later on.

I am, episode 2 was pretty bad as far as animation quality goes. I like how it's pretty much following the manga but it just feels kind of rushed.
I don't really get how Miyata suddenly owned the bloody cross and at the same time got enough power to KO the champion.. Gonna be weird if the champ can't get up from that hit too, he had like 3 rounds to get his powers back.. But I guess he won't or Miyata would be the most failing character ever

The composer for the music is the same as it was for everything else, and the animation in "Hajime no Ippo" was never its strong point. Even though you watched the series recently, the animation does get pretty terrible at points in the old episodes too. However, they always strive to render the bodies fairly accurately, since that's what's more important than faces and the like in a show of this sort. Except, of course, in some of the more serious "outside the ring" scenes.
Aside from some flaws here and there, I think the new series looks rather nice. It really isn't much different from its predecessors, and I'm just glad we're getting any new animated Ippo at all.

I'm just wondering how long of a run they are planning on this time. Another 75 eps maybe? Hopefully more.
I just hope that they do Takamuras first world title fight. Shit with Bryan Hawk was so epic. It looks like they will based off of the opening, but you never know.

the Coach does mention Takamura's world title ambitions in the first episode so I'd assume so..

Sorry for the necro, but Date vs. Martinez was really well done. Anyone still watching this?

yeah this show is the fucking balls. I feel like each episode has the condensed fighting and awesomeness of like 50 episodes of DBZ/naruto/bleach lol

What the shit at Ippo ep 9, I never expected that to happen ever.
I expected Yamada to show up again (the puke guy, geromichi) but I never expected him to look like that or be challenging Ippo for his title.

It was an interesting little side story in the manga. Should be neat to watch.

Hawk vs Takamura is getting dragged out like a DBZ fight imo but still good shit.

I'm still watching, and Hawk vs Takamura was dragged out in the manga too. That's ok though, this fight is badass.
There has been rumors that the show will end after 26 episodes... why even start it if you're not even gonna animate it all? Such a disappointment :/
