Music Friday: Old Snake

Rate this Entry

Hello! Let’s all tread together the treacherous path of the final day of the work week joined by some great music!

Man, hasn't this been some week? Lots of news in videogame land. People finally had a chance to take an early demo for Final Fantasy XV for a spin to confirm it's not vaporware (it's pretty great!), Type-0 also got its long awaited release (wrong console, but it's better than nothing),  God of War 3 is being remastered for the PS4 and there's rumors that Gravity Rush/Daze is as well (RIP Vita?). Lots of interesting stuff.

But yesterday's news of a Konami shakedown that will end with longtime developer and master troll Hideo Kojima leaving the company after his last Metal Gear (The Phantom Pain) was sadly the most surprising one. Metal Gear Solid is an extremely popular franchise and to know that TPP will likely be the last one directed by its creator is shocking. Konami will likely start turning Metal Gear into Assassin's Creed territory. RIP the franchise.

Anyways, I thought about sharing a Metal Gear song in this fateful day, and the first one that came to mind is "Old Snake" from the Playstation 3 masterpiece Metal Gear Solid 4. It's a sad song, fitting for this times. This song represents the Old Snake, the one you know won't be back after this game - and so today I play it for Kojima and Metal Gear, for we know things will never be the same after TPP.

Game on.
