BG Member Of The Week: Adajer

Q. How long have you been a part of BG?
A. Nov 2006. Joined because it was best forum for FFXI I could find. Lurked until about 2012.

Q. What is your favorite video game and why is it your favorite?
A. I dont have a definitive favorite single game. I really love the Suikoden series. FFXI was awesome, really want to play it again but I just...cant. I think I am the only person who really liked FF Tactics Advance 2. Oh, and Tetris. And..

Q. Let's face it, while BG is a lot of things, it is pretty well known for Final Fantasy. Do you have a favorite Final Fantasy character?
A. Don't have one. Can I say Naoshi Mizuta? The man makes some seriously good music.

Q. What's something you find interesting about yourself?
A. I keep having dreams that I have telekinesis. Its going to happen! I can bend my pinky all the way back to touch the back of my hand. Havent done it in a while, so I need to flex it. Maybe I'll put it in the RIT with NSFL tag.

Q. Do you have any fun plans coming up that you want to share? Or maybe something memorable that happened this summer?
A. No special plans. I did buy my first car this year.

Dang! Should have asked what kind of car he got... Actually did you know that BG has a car thread?

Major Game Releases Arriving Next Week:
Note: There were a lot of releases this week but I trimmed it down to 3 games.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
http://images.bluegartr.com/bucket/g...ba7395ad21.jpg
Release Date: 09/30/2014
PS4, Xbox One, PC

We have a thread for this game!
http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/119...)?goto=newpost

Mina: Love Lord of the Rings but I'm so hesitant on anything that goes from a really great book/movie to games. I'd like to wait until I hear some reviews from good friends before I dive into this purchase.
Sonomaa: Im actually pretty excited for this game, Im skeptical because most of the time these games dont get made very well but I like the type and I love the setting. Im cautiously optimistic and will likely wait for a sale on it.
(BGer of the Week) Adajer: Indifferent, not a big LoR fan.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
http://images.bluegartr.com/bucket/g...dc056dba88.jpg
Release Date: 09/30/2014
360, PS3

The Scandalous Superstar Idol vs Sister Complex Kingpin of Steel and the thread that you can find out more:
http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/117...d?goto=newpost

Mina: Oh man, you know I've been waiting for this. I'm pretty aware of a lot of the game's critical flaws by now. From the people who are pretty serious about fighting games this game apparently has a lot of disappointment built up already. I am pretty sure this will just be a game to enjoy for the story or some of the non-competitive aspects for me. Although that probably isn't a good sell for someone into the fighting game community which I acknowledge.
Sonomaa: I will be giving this a go later on, I really like the persona series Im just SUPER SLOW to actually play it. (thanks Mina and TBR for introducing me to it). Ive heard the bad press too but hopefully it can be rectified.
(BGer of the Week) Adajer: Indifferent. Weird though, because I have enjoyed Atlus games over the years.

Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS
http://images.bluegartr.com/bucket/g...a16671cdab.png
Release Date: 10/03/2014
3DS

We already got plenty of conversation going on in the 3DS/Wii U Smash Bros thread, come join us:
http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/116...)?goto=newpost

Mina: I'm still not overly convinced this is going to work on the 3DS. Call me skeptical. I think if I watch enough people play it I can come to a decision on it but I just don't know.
Sonomaa: Always been a big fan of the Smash series for casual play but Im not sure the 3DS or any portable is good for a fighter, time will tell. This is the only smash I would probably get since I dont have a WiiU.
(BGer of the Week) Adajer: Definitely looking forward to this. Get to play my bros back in GA over the internet. Best Buy better have my coin.

Random Comic:
http://images.bluegartr.com/bucket/g...5d9d73b61.jpeg
JL8 is a comic that includes the cast of the Justice League in their elementary school years. I've seen several BGers with avatars from this comic and never actually investigated about it until recently. It's very cute and the quality is pretty top notch. But hey you should also check out Super-Pun Comics as well.

Tricky tricky with Q#1. As for the question of the week... there are numerous problems with the gaming industry such as:

    1) Shifty Business practices - possibility of corporate side of industry hurting the art of the gaming industry. Taking advantage of gamers with extras like addons, dlc, OMGWTFBBQ special editions. Charging gamers for more content on top of the already expensive game.

    2) Insane Budgets Hurting Innovation - Gaming industry is very huge and makes a lot of money. The cost of a game nowadays is well over +3000% or more compared to a couple of generations ago. Scale of the companies have increased in all departments too quickly (adding people in charge of various departments not knowing a thing about games) and will only push out what sells. The gap between the corp and indie ever growing.

    3) Lack of Creativity - Companies relying on success and creating sequels (this is partly our fault). Hashing new games with various mechanics from the past. Developers have forgotten the point of the gaming industry in general.

Solutions? Also Mina your Risette sig is very distracting.....

:D I love trick questions like that but I won't make all the trivia questions tricky.

I do like how you point out the lack of creativity. A lot of businesses will want to pick the safer option (a rehash, sequel, etc) rather than invest into a big new IP. I think this is probably why the indie devs have had their own boom of success is they have a smaller investment but their creativity seems endless.

Several BG sigs will have me lost in them for several minutes each time I scroll into one of their posts.
