What race are you going to be, and why?

they won't be in the alpha. its been said by that only a small fraction of planned release content would be in the alpha, including but not limited to races, classes, areas.

The way its going now, when they decide to put it into a beta/alpha build they will update the main site with the related information.

Basically (this goes for everything), if its on the site, its official and probably final and in the current build. If its in the current build that does NOT mean it is on the site.

All I know is Highlanders, in all likelihood, have females despite the lack of any evidence to support the idea. It is odd that this wasn't seen in the JP translation and it is possible this was translated by someone who thought the line sounded nice and doesn't know shit about shit.

At any rate, even if male Miqo'te, female Highlanders, and female Roegadyn exist in FFXIV, the real question is whether or not they'll ultimately be playable.

Although I don't like how much taller they are in the torso this time around and galka now look fricken sweet so if the trend continues and there isn't a real difference in racials like in FFXI where a galka mage had gimp MP I might roll galka.

I haven't memorized the 14 names yet so sue me, I am too lazy to look.

I think I'm gonna wait to pick a race based on animation of their actions. I was severely disappointed with summoning and white magic of elvaans when I was playing 11. Galkas looked retarded like a slow child running after a ball when they moved and mithras like a chimp swinging their arms back and forth.

Graphics were a big factor for me when I first started playing 11, and 14 looks like a decent size eye candy. I quit because I got tired of 11s game concept and short falls (not gonna list them here), so everything graphics related is a big deciding factor for me, now after playing 11 even more so, when it comes to picking a race/gender in 14.

Basically stated that there are no Hyur Highlander women that are playable. Its unfortunate that they would limit a race/clan to a single gender outside of the Male/Female only Roeg/Miqote races.

I for one, have missed my Mithra since the day I left XI and will be Miqote. Whether I will be Sun or Moon will depend on which stats are pushed for each clan and what overall effects the god will have. Obviously there is some since you do choose your guardian spirit etc.

For SE saying "there will be no stat differences between races this time" there sure is a lot of choices and they look very different in stats to me. Alpha/Beta/Open it's ok to try out stuff, but for Release date it's gonna be hard to pick what you'll be for the next 2+ years w/o any regret.

I'm thinking Lalafell. My original character on FFXI was a Taru, so Lalafell is the obvious choice. I wouldn't feel special making a Hyur.
