If the FFXIVgame.exe is broken you won't beable to get past the login part, if its ok the game should open up the start screen.
If this was posted already I missed it.
Attributes
STRength determines physical attack power.
VITality determines physical defense.
DEXterity determines attack accuracy.
INTelligence determines magical attack power.
MiND determines magical defense.
PIEty determines magical accuracy.
Elements
Fire melts ice, but is extinguished by wind.
Ice obstructs wind, but is melted by fire.
Wind extinguishes fire, but is obstructed by ice.
Earth grounds lightning, but is eroded by water.
Lightning boils water, but is grounded by earth.
Water erodes earth, but is boiled by lightning.
Attuning yourself to a certain element increases both your attack power with, and defense against, spells of the same aspect.
So for the people playing with crafting, are you limited to 2 crafts, or can you be a botonist, miner, blacksmith and clothy all at the same time.
Anyone else still unable to kill dodos and goats after like 3 days of hardcore grinding?
When I looked at my Attributes & Gear menu my attack power, accuracy and the like were at the same level as they were when I was rank 1 Pugilist/Physical level. Is that just a bug or is that only based on the +stats from your gear and not the points you put into various stats?
Long time lurker, first time poster. I was in alpha and am now in the Beta, here's some info in no particular order:
- In the latest build you can equip armors/weapons of any level, however their stats is "restricted" by your level, very similar to level syncing in FFXI. Equipping the lvl 11 spear gave me as much attack/accuracy as equipping the lvl 1 spear, when I was level 1. As soon as I hit lvl 2, the lvl 11 spear gave more stats.
- There are stats on all armors. I saw "Output +8" on an armor, I have no clue what that does.
- An armor had "Required: Dexterity 15" on it. So the level requirement might only determine if you get the full armor/stats on an item you equip, and there might be actual stat requirements on higher level armor.
- I tried with both a gamepad (Xbox360 one) and the keyboard. Keyboard is clunky and uncomfortable, the gamepad feels great. Better than any control scheme I've seen so far for an MMO.
- My biggest grip right now are the "special moves" requiring TP. They usually do around 20%-30% more damage than normal attacks, but cost 50% - 100% more stamina. i.e., using them means damage lost. Same thing with abilities that "improve" the next attack or spell. They didn't use the stamina gauge in the alpha, but so far in Beta they use some stamina. Losing an attack so that your next attack does +10% damage is bad.
Overall I'm impressed with the game. SquareEnix are actually trying for new gameplay instead of repeating what's already been done. But then, the same could be said of pretty much all FF games. I'm thrilled with the no MP regen, among others. Having to choose when to go all-out and when to hold back will be very interesting.
Very interesting. The basic stats seem simplified compared to FFXI (I guess in the same way that jobs are more generalized), but at least it should be easier to allocate stats to achieve specific goals. And it may not require massive changes to allocations when changing jobs (within Disciples of War). And maybe all the complaints about lance inaccuracy comes down to needing more DEX?
As for the element wheel, it's actually two small wheels (with three elements each)? No interactions between the two wheels? Different for sure... and sounds a little bit like change for the sake of change, but I really don't have any arguments against it.
Seems odd at first, but this may be an attempt to lessen the need to keep lower-level equipment around? I'm not saying there will be level-capped events, but if they want people to be changing around jobs easily, this negates some of the need to go crazy with equipment when starting a new job. I wouldn't mind if they kept this the game at retail.Originally Posted by Mortilia
EDIT (Regarding the element "wheels") -- I just noticed that on the picture from the official website (the one that says "the 7th element is you) these element interactions are every other icon, and not directly next to each other; forming two triangles inverse of each other. Fire is directly next to Lightning and Earth, which are part of the other wheel. Maybe there will still be some form of interaction between these that makes for a more advanced set of relationships.
So Pope is the new RDMPIEty determines magical accuracy.
Thanks for this.
For those of us who like to see the relationship visually, I made this:

Wonder what mediates evasion, or if that's just tied to defense.
