Green Lantern won't hit theaters until June 17—that's June 17, 2011, more than a year from now—but Warner Brothers is so sure it will be a hit that they've already started work on the sequel.
Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim—all of whom worked on the first installment in what the studio hopes will be a Green Lantern franchise—have been hired to write a treatment for the second movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
And not only that, but the team has also been asked to write the treatment for a big-screen adaptation of The Flash, though the trio's new deal doesn't indicate which of the two projects they're going to tackle first.
Who are these guys? Berlanti created Everwood and is an executive producer on Brothers and Sisters. Guggenheim co-created Eli Stone with Berlanti and is executive producer and co-creator of the upcoming ABC superhero drama No Ordinary Family. And Green worked with Berlanti on Everwood and created NBC's Kings.
Starting work on a sequel so far out from a movie's release is rare, indicating the studio's confidence that green will turn out to be gold.
Man why doesn't Kyle Rayner ever get any love? D: I guess I'm a bit biased since my introduction to Green Lantern began with GL issue 51 in the 90s, but I think he'd make a much better Green Lantern for the current movie. I like Hal and all, but dudes old school, and this movies probably going to try to make GL seem really current and make hal seem too young (marketing to teens/kids) which just seems more up Rayner's alley to me. Either way though I'm just glad to see GL get some love at all. Maybe one day I can see Rayner done some justice on the big screen (pref. in animated form).

Also, I'd fucking love to see a movie trilogy based off Emerald Twilight. Love the cover art of those 3 comics. I actually bought all 3 in perfect mint shape off Ebay for $0.99 a couple of years back. /sigh I remember when that set was probably worth ~$30-50. Such a shame comics have essentially been destroyed by video games/internet. xD Awesome pic below:
Spoiler: show
It's ok, I hate kyle and I'm indifferent to John.
imdb already has plot and short list of who is playing which part, for those that are interested.

mark strong as sinestro is so fucking cash
Makes more sense to start the series of with Hal Jordan seeing as he's the first earth lantern, Alan Scott doesn't count. As far as I know he has the simplest starting storyline too. Right now in the comics Hal Jordan seems to be THE green lantern anyways, John and Kyle have kind of been forgotten especially John.
mask looks fucking terrible, sure that's real?

apparently the costume is CGI, you'd think they could, oh idk, make it look like the comics, since there aren't material restrictions, but nope
super hero costumes never translate well from book to movieapparently i am fine with people looking ridiculous in print, but the second it's in movie form I'm like WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT
To be fair the costume doesn't look bad, it's mostly just that craptacular mask.
The straight GL costume wouldn't look all that great in movie form anyways, especially since it's not even fabric but an energy construct (though how that explains how their costumes are always torn after big fights, I have no idea)
This might be a shot of mid-costume change, but yeah it looks like ass.
I'm a little more than a month late on the subject, but another movie Reynolds was in that wasn't a comedy was Amityville Horror remake, which I don't think he did a bad job in.
I like the mask more than the body suit
The Nines was great too.
I doubt they will, but I hope they redesign the body suit. Like the one in the Green Lantern: First Flight animated movie

Mask is so and so. It does look more detailed than it should be though.
