thanks, will try it out.
I crave... information.
Spoiler: show
My processor and motherboard badly need to be replaced, so I can't play at the crazy resolutions some people do. My screen is damned near empty when I'm solo or even in a 5-man, but 25-man is a completely different story. Disregard the recount, I'd been healing for a couple Faction Champions wipes and I'd forgotten to turn it onto "current fight" rather than "overall data."
Clusterfuck of Warcraft
Yeah, pretty much, but it does what I need it to do.
Honestly, I only have SUF/Pitbull running for Target, Player, Target of Target, Focus. Grid takes care of party/raid frames. I use standard blizzard damage over target, MSBT for incoming/CD/buffs gained. Or you can use ForteXorcist for gains/target debufs/dots etc. Then Satrinas Buff Frames to scale down your buff icons/timers. Oh and SLDT does everything titan bar does, only with less clutter, and more customizeable.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhggHQOdq7E For an example of what my UI usually looks like.
I honestly only have the raid frames so that I can target the dead and mouse-over to see their gear score. I can hide them easily enough (along with Recount), but I don't really care. Camera angles screw with using Blizzard's damage display. My buffs are precisely how I want them to be.
Well, you were asking for information. You can do the same with grid that you do with your raid frames, and you free up screen real-estate. You also have your buffs/debuffs overlapping, meaning that if you get enough of each you won't be able to tell what's on you. That, and when you get rid of 119 MB of addons, you'll be having less framerate and latency problems.
Just noticed your comment in the other thread. SBF is what I use in the video I posted. Easy to setup, works identically to the blizzard frames, except they're adjustable in size and grid size.
Nah, the framerate and latency "problems" are here to stay. The latency is part of being on one of the largest and oldest servers. It's been hell since the new wing of ICC was opened. My framerate is a fucking joke unless I'm sitting in a small room in the back end of nowhere. Hardware is aging, nothing to do for it until I've got disposable income again. In this economy, though...
I think you misinterpreted my initial comment, though. I wasn't looking for advice, I was explaining why I keep so much data on-screen.
Here's what you need to hear but dont want to. Ditch that entire clusterfuck and start again. You dont need 2 raid frames, you dont really need to see dps meters during fights, you lose a third of your screen to a big black rectangle to put you shit on, your minimap is where your buttons should be and do you really need that HUD bang in the middle of your screen? I hate to say it chap but that's truly one of the worst UI's I've ever seen. Sorry.
Hurray, there's the response I was expecting to see. I acknowledged the raid frame thing. Though, I must ask, why does it matter a whit where my buttons are or are not placed? I don't click my abilities, there's no way I could play by clicking. Or, for that matter, what I need screen "real estate" for. Negative space is for paintings.
I do need the HUD where it is, though. It's the best place for seeing the latency on my casts.
Edit: Incidentally, though I may argue, do know that I am keeping your thoughts in mind. I was deliberately a.) stress-testing a bunch of tweaks I'd made to my UI but whose ultimate worth I was uncertain about and b.) finding the worst possible amount of crap to end up on screen. The results of that and the horror expressed here have been helpful. It's always a process with me.
A. The more you can see of your surroundings, the better you can react to stuff incoming to your character. If you're in charge of mob CC, and you have that mob hidden behind raid frames, and you can't tab target? You're fucked. Instead, you put up grid, you get more room to see shit, and less memory usage = less lag/framerate issues.
B. Those hud things are retarded. Get Quartz (The only casting bar that should ever be used). You can get the same effect as your hud with quartz and shadowed unit frames/pitbull, without all the bullshit.
C. Moving the buttons to the center of the screen allows you to watch CD's without having to take your eyes off where the action is, which is your character.
It also allows you the option of freeing up keybinds, or makes it so you have a choice between either rolling your fingers across the keyboard trying to hit something, or you can click it so you don't have it going off at the wrong time etc.
This also frees up more room for shit that needs to be out of your FOV so you can see the fire on the floor easier, or orbs, and other environmental you can't see. I mean, looking at your UI right now. A void zone spawns to the left of you, something is coming at you. You move to the left because you cant see the void zone, and you die.
Also, viewport again closes the amount of screen real-estate you have. meaning more chances to fuck up something simple because your UI is cluttered, and you have 2-3 addons doing the same shit.
Used Quartz, didn't work for me. Dunno what "bullshit" you're stressing out about with regards to a couple of uninteractable bars. Yes, they're a little redundant with regards to HP/MP. What's this "CC" you talk about? Is that the thing where people instantly break my Shackles and make me shout incoherently at them? I don't use my hotkeys to monitor my GCD.
Seriously, though, you're not listening to me on this framerate and latency thing. I can go down to the base UI, I'll still have no framerate worth mentioning in a 25 man raid. Whenever I stop playing on a pocket calculator, maybe that'll change, but I've yet to be overwhelmed in a raid, either.
Pitbull is fucking terrible
Except for style, I haven't noticed a meaningful difference in swapping from X-Perl to SUF. Mostly, I was tired of X-Perl glitching whenever I'd end up in a vehicle which meant several times daily. Unit frames are unit frames, though, even the base UI frame isn't terrible as far as personal and target frames are concerned.
Spoiler: show
Fairly happy with my ui atm. Any comments? :D
Edit: Grid goes in the bottom right next to Recount when I am in a party/raid.
