Somoe is able to recognize the meaning behind the symbol.

In west during the aftermath of the war, a group of hobgoblins were able to carve out a piece of land from the Elven Empire to make their own city state. It came to be known as Grazkek. While openly hostile to all other nations it has not made any effort to expand their borders. This symbol is very similar to their national flag, but there is one problem. These goblins must have been misinformed, because the wolf is suppose to be red, not blue. The goblin word for red is even in the name Grazkek.

"We better check on what's happening outside, there is no way that this ragtag party of goblins can make their way past the town guards, something bigger must be happening out there"

I want to leave asap, gotta get this show on the road! Also gotta figure out what's going on outside and what caused this, not to mention we still have no idea where to go for our quest to get the item Somoe needs to collect.

Before you can leave, two members of the town guard show up. Two tall humans who look like they've seen a hell of a battle. Unknowingly, they step on the door to enter, followed by a few more crunches. "Damn, and I thought we've seen the last of them" one of them grunts. "What exactly happened here?" the other scans the scene.

[Zilong]

"That's what I'd like to ask..." Variz replied as he looks at the guards.

"Or rather, what is happening out there?" he continues

[Maguspk]

Noah nods and walks to stand aside Variz, looking at the guards questioningly.

[BRP]

"About an hour ago... three buildings were lit on fire. One of them belonged to the head of the town guard. But it was all a distraction! Several raiding parties of Hobgoblins, Goblins, and I think even an orge or two hit several locations. Those bastards even hit the church! The Pelor church that is... We have been able to force a full retreat for most of those parties, but we have a feeling this ordeal isn't over yet. The whole town is in chaos. The town guard is useless like this, without a leader."

I'm a leader, right?

Noah looks uneasy upon hearing the Church was attacked. If the town guard isn't able to do it's job and people's lives are in the balance, something has to be done.

"We're all willing to help out," Noah looks back at Somoe and over at Variz and Hammer, "take us to them. We'll make short work of these nuisances. The faster we can restore some order, the less people that are likely to be caught up in this mess."

leader in literal sense as in someone barking order, rather than a class role...i think

"Well then, no use wasting our time here, any idea on the positions of the remaining raiding parties? Or any sign of incoming reinforcements?"

[BRP]

One of the guards has walked over to bar and is talking to the patrons. The other continues to speak with you.

"Not much of a clue at all. I guess we could say where they are not..." He coughs nervously, "Look, you obviously are not ones to be worried about. I mean, I wouldn't suggest running around out there, but... we can't help you. We got orders to secure this tavern. And... I have a family to worry about..."

[Zilong]

Variz senses something isn't quite right with the guard's answer.

"Orders? You just said that the headguard's house was the first target of the arsons, and that you have no leaders to organize the guards"

He glares at both of guards, suspicious of their true intentions.

"I'll ask one more time, what is really going on out there, and under whose order are you here?"

Should I do an insight check on the truthfulness of the guard's words?

I just rolled an Insight Check [Guards] ( 1d20+9=18 ) and as you can see I got a 9 which is lower than my base 10. I just realized how stupid that is, how can I subconciously have more insight than when I'm actually conciously trying? haha

Noah is quiet as he tries to be cautious and observe what's going on as Variz grills the guard, hoping he might be able to make an assessment of the situation.

[BRP]

"No, no, It's not like that! Despite the guard being all over the place, we were able to meet up with councilwoman Kanthis. Whoever she found she put to action. Roughly two or three dozen men at most... not enough to fight off an invasion, but thankfully the goblins only look to be bluffing. They seem to have all come from the bridge and last I heard it was secured. Now we just have to chase out any standard dogs. She sent us here, probably an old favor to Dentan."

[Zilong]

"I see, so tell us where we can found the councilwoman? Perhaps we can be of use to her"

[BRP]

"She was outside of the church of Pelor. It was the nearest attack from the fires and it is probably the most important site of the community... so naturally several of us on watch went there first. We were able to settle the matter there and that's the last time I saw her."

[Bagel]

"Hellooooo. Don't you think we have bigger problems to worry about? Problems more pertaining to me?"

[Zilong]

Variz looks at Somoe and shrugs.

"I suppose that is also an issue we need to take care of, seem like for better or worse, these people got it under control"

Variz approaches Somoe

"So, do you have any idea on what we're suppose to do about your father, or are you as much in the dark with everything as these two morons?" he said in a soft voice, while gesturing at the guards.

"All I know is that these brigands appear out of nowhere and start threatening me and now there's Hobgoblins everywhere. I don't think there's a connection, but maybe..."
