How is it any different than the comics? Iron Man still uses a robotic suit, and Hulk is still a scientist who gets mayad. You're making an issue where there isn't one.

So you are okay with Mandarin appearing in the "scientifically, realism-driven universe" they built up in Hulk and IM, yet using "magic" to explain Thor's origin just won't fit in this? Thor is a God. If you are willing to accept super science as explanation to IM and Hulk, then this shouldn't be a stretch for you.
Comic fans are not equal to moviegoers. These movies are based on the comics but they aren't the comics themselves.
If you're an avid reader of comics, you come to expect situations that make no sense, aren't supposed to make sense or accept the finer points of fantasy (magic, space aliens bent on world domination, new writers taking a character in a totally different direction etc). Your tolerance is not equal to other people.
The moviegoer who we'll assume has never read an Iron Man or Hulk comic is going to be thrown for a loop if we insert magic, hammer-wielding god of thunder without pruning it to fit within the established universe. It'd currently make no sense given how they've set up these movies to be semi-realistic.
All I am saying really is that I hope they don't have Thor as the weak link in this chain of movies because they go overboard on the myth/magic.
I can want Mandarin to appear but still understand if they steer away from it because of how off the beaten path he'll take the franchise. This same logic (avoid the over-the-top villains) was used in the newer Batman's to maintain a sense of realism so why is it ridiculous here?So you are okay with Mandarin appearing in the "scientifically, realism-driven universe" they built up in Hulk and IM, yet using "magic" to explain Thor's origin just won't fit in this? I think you underestimate gullibility of your average movie goer.
You give the intelligence level of the average movie-goer far too much credit by assuming that the average movie-goer understands enough about the comic book universe that's been created for these Marvel movies to identify what is and is not appropriate, but lacks the ability to suspend disbelief at one more unrealistic aspect of the films (i.e. mutant genes, radioactive spiders, physics-defying robotic suits, gamma radiation, space radiation, etc. etc.).
A magical Thor will fit right in as part of the grand design, and no one will care about whether or not it makes sense except the comic geeks.
^This, who gives a shit if it "fits in" to the universe they've created. I want to see this movie to watch Thor fuck some people up Thor style, not contemplate if such a person could actually exist in my world. I go to the movies so I can spend 2.5~hrs not dealing with my world![]()
New Batman movies were plenty over the top/ridiculous lol.
Microwave gun bullshit in the first + other shit I don't remember and a lot of the Two-Face arc in TDK are kind of lulzy. It's a fucking superhero movie, nobody really gives a shit about realism, if I wanted that I'd watch the Hurt Locker
I neglected to mention that the thing that leads to people such as Nick L. Fury believing he's not just a crazy dude who's absconded with Norway's superhero project wasSpoiler: show
Worked fine in the comics though (if you like the Ultimates series, which I'm apparently in the minority on).
Ultimates rocked, you aren't alone there.
Yup Ultimate Universe is where Im getting most of my entertainment right now. That shit with The Thing, new Ultimates, freaking Ultimate Spiderman is the shit, even with his weirdly shape head.
I really like this guy. They all seem to have great chemistry and having fun which should make for a good movie.
natalje portman is hhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwt!
