oh they are PNG transparent images.
PNG is a bit better for transparency than GIF
could you have some browser problem? are you saving them as gif? or jpg? or bmp?
if so they loose their transparency and you end up with a black background.
guess you're using IE? w

Never mind! It's an error with 64 Bit Windows XP where Firefox will give all objects black bounding boxes. They all look really nice.
