It's very consistent, when it doesn't crit it usually hits for 1200+. I want to Fraps some videos but it doesn't work for me on Windows 7. Anyone know of any good capturing software for Windows 7?

its an undead
they pretty weak ^^
my 46 coin quest greatsword did 3k+ break power damage critical on undead refugees outside adma stronghold(asmodian side)
usually hit 2.3-2.5k on mobs like lepharist
I usually grind off of them because it's a pretty safe spot. If I really want to get into it I head to Nahor Castle and kill a shit ton of 47-48 Vampires. There really isn't much of a difference on the crits I do on either of them.
So I'm about to hit 36 now and when I got new gear at 33/35 I got tired of clerics not being able to consistently keep me alive in FT and groups. So I sadly socketed HP/Block into my gear.
Now while the clerics are keeping up with healing now (I still think I just partied with some bad clerics) I've noticed a huge difference in my ability to keep hate in groups and my own kill speed solo. I even had 1 whiny Chanter complain that my block wasn't high enough and the temp he has in his legion with his 1650 Block is some sort of god.
Honestly I'm tired of trying to please healers that don't want to do their job and would rather pretend to be some sort of DPS than heal, and everyone that's not a Templar tell me how horrific I was for using crit stones. I wrecked people in duels with my crit setup now it's all about if I can bore them to death and hope they die of old age with my HP/Shield setup cause it's only a matter of time before I'll eventually die myself.
So tonight I do believe I will do what I want with my character and socket phys crit back in, fuck em. I could potentially see a benefit of shield block with your stell wall is down and you're looking for a shield bash, but the cool down on that is pretty decent to not even make that too much of a concern.
Also I do agree with everyone else with the whole Sword > Mace (unless it's extendable). I recently gave up my sword for a Mace due to my sword being grossly underleveled and not pissing kinah like it was going out of style for a couple mill sword. A legion mate crafted a sexy blue mace for me so I'll be using that until I can get the money together for a good sword or I can get the mats to have my legion make me a shiny nice one.
I do enjoy the survivability of Templar and there seems to be a severe shortage of them on my server so I'm never without a group when I need one. I did level and alt Sin which was so much fun to beat things down with. So I'm hoping my wife can level an alt up to 25 so her and I can go beat on crap together, I've seen some higher level sins just do some insane things pvp.
Trust me, it's not you, it's them. So many people rolled cleric mainly for the survivability in PVP, that have no idea how to heal a group. I lost count how many times a was close to death in my 30's because the cleric was busy dps'ing.
I've rolled a ranger alt due to being completely bored farming bloods for Fenris' and i have to say, it's really fun. It's a shame really because i really love tanking, but there just isn't anything for me to tank besides S rank. Even then a sin or glad can do just fine. I've done all the world bosses and such so i can't put my singer on it, it's just missing something.
Yeah I already have a feeling I'm going to be spending a lot of money on soul healing again.
Yeah I love tanking too, something I have fun doing when I play but the pvp issues I have with SM/Sorc/Ranger is quite unbearable, and that's all that seems to ever rift over anymore.
I'm either going to work on my Sin alt when my wife catches up or level Ranger/Sorc/Chanter as an alternative (she's doing SM). Of course I could work on all of them so I could have a full Daeva set available.
QFT...
I couldn't agree more with every thing you said. We aren't really needed to tank tank anything. Sins and Glad's are more than capable of tanking anything in the endgame with a fair amount of ease and they do not have to rely on artificial threat mechanics (multiple rotating provokes) to maintain threat. In the end, the entire theory behind limiting Templar damage output is that we have an offset of threat and survivability. But when the Threat component is so out of whack, it negates some of that.
I love tanking, I have not yet had the privilege of doing DP, but I have seen sins tank everything else major in the game so far. I started to level an alt as well, hoping to see my level of fun rise back to the levels it was in the beginning.
I changed most of my slots back to PCH last night and I'm much happier with my crit rate. I would have changed them all but I'm still saving to get the mats for my speed boots and hands.
I'm hoping with this double xp weekend I can grind from 35 to 40ish, of course I'll probably have caffeine for blood by that point. I keep getting told the 40's is so much better for Templar and we're not target practice for literally every class.
What level can we start doing/safely tank things like Steel Rake? That looks like the next fun instance I'd like to work on, FT is getting boring/too easy.
well as a cleric I agree crit will help templar in a lot of situations but I wouldn't socket only crit (or at least not socket HP at all)
I've met tanks with less HP than me (I don't even socket only HP) and that's just scary to heal, they get to 50% of their life at the first big attack, or after a double pull. HP increases survivability a lot (more than block in my opinion, or at least it's more reliable), especially on fights such as Lahulahu (SR lower final boss) with a single healer, where you basically have to survive for 3.5s with a big DoT on you and where noone cares about the damage you're going to do (you won't lose aggro anyway). The same boss with a tank around 9k HP is a breeze however.
Honestly, they lowered the level of mobs in Middle Steel Rake. You can probably start doing Mid runs at 41-42. The problem that you will see is that you will basically be doing SR in some shape or form everyday til you are 46+. Make sure you get and complete all the quests available so you can start doing Hairpin turnins ASAP for your helm. With 30 turn-ins required you are still going to be running the instance 10-12 times.
Cool so time to grind up to low 40's then so I have something new to do. What about upper and lower? I get invites all the time to crap out of my level range so I don't really feel like marching off to get slaughtered.
@ carve Yeah I find having more HP useful as well. But, keeping gear moderately up to date a tank knowing they're about to get smashed pretty hard by a multiple pull or a hard hitting move should be prepared to get a voke down on at least 2 things and put up Steel Wall Defense, or whatever else they have, before taking too much damage, while the CC takes their sweet time doing their job and turtle themselves till things settle down a bit. Then they can let loose.
But I also agree with the previous point by Alderaan, too many clerics roll the job with little knowledge or intention of being a healer in parties.
I've tanked for good healers and I've tanked for bad healers, just like I'm sure you've cured for bad tanks and good tanks. So long as you're not mashing buttons like a retarded circus monkey people should be able to do their jobs fairly competently. But this game is also filled with dipshits that still need velcro to dress themselves safely.
Your accuracy will also be a little shoddy in SR at the beginning, especially on the archer mobs. What is this about hairpins? Are they quest drops inside SR?
yep
with the new droprates (and sadly lesser mobs that drop them) you SHOULD still be able to turn in 1-2, or i will say average 1.5 quest per run, if you hunt down all those quest mob in mid SR, namely shamans and healers
im still working on the head, cos frankly speaking, its a piece of really good gold helm for any class even at lvl 50
max HP dont increase survivibility for templars THAT MUCH
it does increase the survivibility for clerics tho by A MASSIVE LOT
i'll draw u the margin in a little example:
1. 8000 HP 400 crit vs 9000 hp 150 crit
2. 8000 HP 1800 shield block vs 9000 HP 1600 shield block
3. 7500 HP 1200 MR vs 8500 HP 1000 MR
i'll pick the former than the latter in all 3 examples anyday if i were to slot them this way
im not stating the extremes like 28x 85 HP as a 50 templar sockets here because if you do that at lvl 50, going full HP stones.......your pretty gimp -_-;;;;;;;
templars gaining 1000-1500 HP boost is pretty shitty, compared to gaining 150-200 more MR, or 200-300 shield block or even 300 crit or or or even 100 attack
whereas a cleric gaining 1500 more HP is very very very good so you dont get 1 shot somehow by random LARGE MAGIC MISSLE or can survive elyos/asmo zerg better by 1-2 sec to radiant/instant cure
when a templar really gotta die, because if a real shitty pull or hit by 10 trucks......he is going to die no matter how much you can heal.....our max HP dont mean we can survive better. theres more into that
im sorry but i really need to yell it loud to people that arent templars that MAX HP FOR US DONT DO JACK SHITS COMPARED TO OTHER STONES WE CAN SLOT YO
I'm not entirely sure about what you're talking about but on the Elyos side Archers and Vaegirs drop the hairpins and you can do 4 updates in a single mid run. (maybe it's very different for asmos, I don't know)
Actually I wrote my previous message right after a SR run with this temp. His gear and socket choice are obviously horrible but I thought that even with only shield block or crit manastones, he would still have 6.2k HP.
When I'm healing in a group, everyone has full HP all the time as long as the mob only does regular attacks/weak skills, blocking or physical def almost doesn't matter at all. The only time someone loses HP is when situation goes bad (bad pull, CC broken, powerful AoE, etc.) and when that's the case I don't think an extra 200 block has as much chance to save your life as an extra 1000 HP (both are roughly a 10% increase, except HP will always be useful while block is less reliable). Luck shouldn't be involved, if you survive until the situation goes under control, everyone will be back at full HP a second or so later.
With 6.2k HP (the base HP of a temp with no HP stones at level 45 it seems) if the situation goes bad you'll just die before Radiant Cure (the highest healing spell in terms of HP/s healed) cast is even finished. Obviously I don't only use Radiant Cure but when it is the best choice (basically when Light/Flash of Recovery are on cooldown and tank needs around 3k more HP to go back to full) you still need to survive during 3s (and if your max HP is 6.2k, surviving 3s with 3.2k HP left can be difficult)
Obviously I'm not a temp so I don't know how much more fun it is to play with a full crit build, but as a cleric I really fear a temp with no HP stones at all.
wtf elyos need archers and the sins?! we need the RARE healers and shamans lol
wow fuck you guys really
i dont like to complain about how elyos got the better equip world bosses and quests much
but this is just makes me die a lil inside
thanks ncsoft for giving us talons and the hate
Seriously, no wonder so many people have that shit. Practically handed to them.
woops, double post. plz delete.
that's really unfair indeed
well on Elyos side 90% of the mid runs I see stop at snow, people still get 2 updates and 1.25 for the pauldrons quest. Because of this I've never seen the gold greaves, I'd rather have done full runs every time.
