While I'm sure they will iron out these issues related to those specific graphic cards, it makes me curious just how closely they are working with Nvidia as they referenced in that article in the Nvision? magazine. I was looking at the GTX 280 last night too as a potential card(s) for my XIV unit.

They (AMD/ATI) merged close to four years ago. I don't think you can really cheer them on in the GPU wars while mocking their CPU designs and have much of a cogent argument while doing so.

Sony is a perfect example. They run multipule divisions; excel at some, suck at others.
GPUs and CPUs are different animals.

Actually, no. AMD does indeed own ATi now, but it really does remain independent most of the time. The departments do collaborate with each other when working on projects on Fusion, but not much more then that.

Not that I agree with his opinion, or think AMD CPUs or GPUs suck, but I can think of a few companies that are the best in their field for one product, but absolutely suck at another.

It'd be more akin to complaining that you like Ford cars, you just hate their motorboats.

It's totally awesome to debate about something so fucking arbitrary that it almost changes monthly on who has the fastest clock speeds. Also with 90% of OEM's shipping standard with NVIDIA's due to contracts they have with Intel it'd be totally fucked up if people actually had them in their computers. You're a fucking idiot.

I got a GTX 285 when it first came out, and am using it with my Intel Core2Duo ;/.

What you should have said is "I can't believe people are still using Vista lol"~

To be on topic; Seems the music is random when you start up. I've had the main theme, no music, and some relaxing theme. Updater also hates it if you try to run another game fullscreen, or switch display options (just like FFXI~)

See, I don't really think the two products are that far apart. I know there's a lot of differences in the actual design, but abstractly, it's just circuit etching with embedded ALUs with fancy functions and names. NVIDIA didn't have that much trouble moving from doing GPUs to southbridge design, and there was all the speculation in the world for a while that they were going to start doing x86 design too.

What you're saying makes sense. I just think it's shaky ground to be standing on when firing shots in a classic Internet A vs. B battle.

And for the record, there's nothing at all wrong with the Phenom series. It's still a good value proposition, even if i7 holds the performance crown right now. All of this has happened before, and it will happen again.

BTW, it might be a merger on paper, but AMD bought out ATi. It's only considered a merger because AMD let ATi keep their brand name and act basically like their own company.
