XI Wiki
Is it possible to run the game entirely off of an external hd? Space is an issue for me so it'd be nice to be able to move the game off my laptop and on to the external hd without any repercussions.

It should work, you might get occasional input lag due to lower throughput speeds (480Mbit/sec vs SATA 1.5-6Gbit/sec), but nothing serious.

Laptop hard disks probably aren't much faster than an external USB 2.0It should work, you might get occasional input lag due to lower throughput speeds (480Mbit/sec vs SATA 1.5-6Gbit/sec), but nothing serious.

I used to run WoW off an external drive in OSX. Definitely works.
