    New Perfect Defense finding

    Didn't know where else to put this.
    My shell popped Absolute Virtue last night using me as SMN for PD. I thought I'd contribute to damage so after PD I pulled out Shiva and decided to Heavenly Strike and Retreat. Shiva dies to Meteor and the adds eventually kill me. This was I'm told 50 seconds after I applied Perfect Defense, full MP (1.5k ish). So it looks like Perfect Defense will wear off when the Summoner who cast Alexander dies.

    I'm curious enough to go test this out with my 2box. We be back in 20-30min with some results.

    SMN/RDM -> Convert after alex should make for an easy death against something high-lvl. ;/

    As I realize that the times on both machines are horrifically out of sync...

    Even still, not the 90 seconds it should have been.

    Doesn't PD's potency decay over time at any rate?

    It does decay, but provided you cast the spell with over 900 MP the duration lasts 90 seconds. The fact remains that it wore off when the Summoner who cast it died, which was before those 90 seconds.

    I really need to hit refresh before I edit a post sometimes.

    The NM started hitting my whm for 140ish before he died (rather than <20 at the start), which was roughly 20 seconds after I used PD.

    It starts to decay at half of the duration only. Also, 900 MP is the minimal cost for a lvl 75 summoner, it's more in the 1200~ MP for a level 95 (no matter what is the MP%)

    That still puzzles me. The spell cast cast with over 1.4k MP (100% MP) at 95 so it should not have lasted 1:20. It just seemed really odd that with all the MP I have and all the skill I have that it did not last the full duration. and the only explanation was that it wore off because I died like DoTs in voidwatch.

    I took the time to find the formula on Perfect Defense, how I did not think about this before?

    Summoner level * 12

    Level 75
    897 MP : 75 seconds
    901 MP : 90 seconds

    Level 85
    1013 MP : 75 seconds
    1021 MP : 90 seconds

    Level 95
    1134 MP : 75 seconds
    1142 MP : 90 seconds

    Level 99
    1164 MP : 75 seconds
    1190 MP : 90 seconds

    These tests were conducted using fraps on the test server.

    Sorry about the necrobump, don't shoot me! (I used the search feature instead of making a new thread or posting in the RQT)

    Just wondering about this, especially the post above, if it's actually accurate? I have been told you need 1300+ mp as a 99 smn to make PD last 90 seconds, would like to know if anyone have any additional information on this?

    The full 90 sec duration requires anything over 1000 MP

    My formula is still correct. 1000 MP gives a duration of 75 seconds at level 99.
