    "Updates were not configured correctly"?

I'm not sure if anyone has been having this issue, but with the recent windows automatic updates they never seem to install/update correctly on my computer.

After installing them and my computer is booted back up Vista says they're not properly installed, after which it reboots my computer, uninstalls the updates, reboots again, then configures settings after the uninstalling, then lets me back on.

Virus wise I'm doubting that's the problem. I just updated Malwarebytes and did a quick scan and it picked up nothing.

Thanks in advanced for the help.

Sorry for the bump, but I found the updates which aren't updating if that will help any. The following updates are:

*Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framwork 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86

*Security Update for Windows Vista (KB973507)

*Security Update for Windows Vista (KB971657)

*Security Update for Windows Vista (KB956744)

*Security Update for Windows Vista (KB971557)

*Security Update for Windows Vista (KB973540)
The only update that failed was the .NET Framework, however since the 13th the Security Updates have failed. Hope this can help in any way.

Or if anyone could redirect me to a forum/site that specializes in PC problems would be a great help as well.

I'd make sure you have the dotnet 1.1 and 2.0 updates first, that may be why 3.5 isn't installing correctly. It should be listed under add/remove programs. Try re-installing 2.0 and 3.5 if they're already there.

I was having this issue also, i finally got it to work by double clicking the failed part and "get help with this error".
It brought up a seperate window with the 64Bit download, i hit this heading and it installed no problem.

Hmm, I don't seem to have dotnet installed. Trying to repair .NET Framework to see if that does anything.

I remember HP Update installed something saying it was required for a windows update, but it didn't seem to do anything. I have been searching at my error codes for info but no luck on a solution.

EDIT Error code for the .NET Framework seems to be "8004100A" but I can't find any info on it.

I tried to google it and didn't get a lot of helpful results. The first few links I got were kind of the same thing: People saying they got the error, how to fix it, and no solution.
