Default Wonder Woman not coming soon to NBC after all

The on again off again Wonder Woman news has really bored me to death but it seems now the latest news from Deadline is NBC has stepped up to the plate and ordered a pilot from David E. Kelley. Of all the networks passing on the pilot just a few weeks ago including the struggling NBC it seems a lot of changes are happening now that Comcast has taken over the Peacock and new head honcho Robert Greenblatt is making some bold moves which includes ordering the WW pilot.

Here's the plot description Deadline has for Wonder Woman, describing it as,

"a reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman -- aka Diana Prince -- is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life."

So... by NBC standards, single mother with wacky (most likely gay) neighbors who discover her secret identity.

According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello McG has is the favorite to direct David E. Kelley's newly greenlit Wonder Woman pilot for NBC and Warner Bros.

The director has a lot of experience with reboots and powerful women, he directed both Charlie's Angels movies. There have yet to be any meetings on the project, but word is that McG is considered a fronturnner for the job.

McG is very active as a TV producer with 4 series on the air including, Chuck, Supernatural, Nikita and Human Target, he typically does not direct in TV opting to work in features. His only previous TV directing jobs were the pilots for Chuck and Fastlane, both developed and produced by McG's WBTV-based company.

This is going to be the worst canonical series or the worst fanfiction series. And I am factoring in Smallville. Which I watched.

BleedingCool.com has read the David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Boston Legal) Wonder Woman pilot and put up a little list of some of the *spoiler-free* details about the first episode in order to clarify a few things about the project, which has been under the fanboy microscope over the past few weeks. A special warning to all of you who don't want to know anything about the new show and might consider any specifics to be spoilers. (Which I kinda do, personally. So beware!)

Keep in mind too that many of these details could change through rewrites and revisions.

So which elements from the DC Comics will be a part of the new show?

    There's a Myndi Mayer - Diana's BFF.
There's a scene with comics character Etta Candy.
Long ago, government man Steve Trevor crashed onto Wonder Woman's island and brought her back to New York, but now they've split up. She still loves him, though, and it's obvious that their relationship is going to be a focus.
Diana doesn't have an invisible jet, but she does have a bunch of multi-colored aircraft.
She does have the lasso and those bracelets with which she deflects bullets.
Her nemesis is Veronica Cale, who on the show is an evil scientist and rival businesswoman with an diabolical plan.
BleedingCool goes on to write that Wonder Woman has two alternate identities; one being Diana Prince (no make-up, glasses, hair up) and the other being Diana Themyscyra, the head of Themiscyra industries. Now, you might want to write this down or draw yourself a diagram. Ready? No one knows that WW is Diana Prince, but the whole world knows, Tony Stark-style, that WW and Diana Themyscyra are the same.

Oh, and there's a nerd think-tank of sarcastic techs who live in her basement, dance to Kanye West and help Diana solve crimes. More deets on Wonder Woman…she still loves Steve, identifies with E.T., loves planes, wants to belong with regular people, sings along to her favorite songs on the radio, hates Wonder Woman merchandizing, and has pajama jammy jam sleepovers with Myndi. Also, when she's Diana Prince she's shy and when she's Diana Themyscyra she's confident.

BC then described the piece as a "slightly goofy comedy-drama about a hotshot business woman who moonlights as a superheroine, packed with Girl Power pop-songs and including the awkward phrase 'You go, girl.'" Pop songs written into the script? "One Way or Another" by Blondie; "Wonder of You" by Jeffrey McDonald; "Golddigger" by Kanye West; "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga; "Last of the American Girls" and "Extraordinary Girl" by Green Day; "Pepinot" by Les Choristes; "I Only Know How to Love" by Christina Aguilera. Oh, and an action scene set to Beyonce's "Single Ladies."

After playing the Wonder Woman story arc in DCUO I'm a lot more interested in a Wonder Woman TV show. Then I read this...

    http://www.avclub.com/articles/david...rpowere,51229/

When it was announced that David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman had graduated to the pilot stage at NBC, we speculated that the show would find her balancing crime-fighting with the typical TV concerns of a single career-lady, reflecting on a day’s work and the mysteries of love to the gentle strains of adult-contemporary pop. As it turns out, we may not be far off: Bleeding Cool has obtained what it says is a draft of Kelley’s pilot script, and apparently this will indeed be a modern Wonder Woman, one who longs for ex-boyfriend Steve Trevor “like Carrie for Big” on Sex And The City, sings along to Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga songs on the radio, and binges on ice cream during pajama sleepovers with her best gal pal. At one point, Wonder Woman also has a fight scene set to Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies,” and a character says the phrase, “You go, girl.” But, you know, in a “serious, non-campy” way. On a positive note, she'll still have those bullet-deflecting bracelets, but of course, they'll just be one more wall she puts up to keep people from seeing the real her, you know?

I think the fucking Lady Gaga songs will get it cancelled equally fast.

David Kelley has clearly been out of the tv game for too long and doesnt remember shit.
