Word on the street is that Universal Pictures is currently looking to develop a new Terminator film, and they want Fast and the Furious franchise director Justin Lin to bring it to life. According to Deadline the plan is to pair Lin up again with writer Chris Morgan who wrote the last three Fast and the Furious movies, and get the movie into production.

This news comes shortly after Arnold Schwarzenegger sent a tweet out letting everyone know he is ready to get back into acting. There's no word on if he will be involved with this Terminator film, I seriously doubt it due to the fact that he's way to old to play a Terminator, unless the robots started aging.

As much as I enjoy watching these stupid Fast and Furious films I don't know if Lin is the right director to relaunch a successful franchise, but he's a better choice than McG who directed that god-awful Terminator Salvation film. I seriously doubt this new film will have anything to do with the sequel idea to Terminator Salvation that was written by James Cameron collaborator, William Wisher. I would think Universal and Lin would start a new film from scratch. Here are the details of the sequel plans though.

(The film) takes place in a post-apocalyptic battleground, and factors in an element of time travel that allows for Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese to interact beyond their single fateful meeting when he traveled back in time to protect her in the original film. Wisher has created a role for Arnold Schwarzenegger that is as surprising as his shift from villain in the first film, to John Connor’s bodyguard in the second. Schwarzenegger wouldn’t be needed until the final film, which wouldn’t shoot until after he ends his term as California Governor. And who wouldn’t want to see Linda Hamilton back in aerobic top fitness form as Sarah Connor?

There are several new villains, and plenty of firepower. For instance, a swarm of “Night Crawlers,” 4 1/2-foot tall border sentries that are set like mines to spring up out of the ground and ambush rebel fighters with 10 MM pistols built into their wrists, and fingers and feet that are razor sharp. Also fresh off the Skynet assembly line are new shape-shifting cyborgs that can morph together in Transformers-like mode, and are more lethal than anything we’ve seen in previous Terminator installments.

Sounds beyond stupid and would ruin the movie outright. The hell would they need to communicate for before he's sent back, she wouldn't even know who he was, and it could ruin the overall story of the first Terminator movie.

Perhaps it's the sequel to the Sarah Connor Chronicles where she appeared in the future, which is a prequel to what happened in T1, thus changing the future and the past so that she met him before she got pregnant after her initial pregnancy, but not changing the past enough that her past self knows who he is...

They jumped through time to escape the T-888, Cromartie, that was after them, and as added bonus, skipped over the period in time where Sarah would have died from cancer. The intent was to escape skynet by moving through time, so that they could try to live normally for a while because John was sick of running all the time and if they suddenly were to vanish from the timeline, they felt skynet wouldn't be able to track them right away.

It would have worked but when the time portal activated at the same time they blew up the terminator after them, his head came through the portal and short circuited, and since they're programmed to rebuild themselves, when he came back online, his body that got tossed in a junk pile reactivated and found the head, and thus figured out what year it was, and where the Conners were.

And I forgot that they went into the future at the end of season two completely, so that could be used to work into this new planned story but it's be a bit of work to make it work.
