Rift: Random Complaint Thread

My biggest complaint is the 42-50 grind. Nobody does instances because they don't give all that great of XP in that range, and rifts still take forever so you're basically stuck quest grinding, which I absolutely detest on PVP servers, where a 10 minute quest trip can turn into an hour-long gridlock if the wrong shitstorm starts up.

I've cut my play time down by at least 75% since hitting 42. I just don't have it in me to quest whore like a madman anymore, even if I do want to raid with my guild, and even if I do love instance-grinding at max level. I just can't do it these days; maybe its the weather outside or something.

Don't say that! I'm 18 now and I'm on a pvp server. I haven't encountered any world/open pvp just yet and that scares me as I don't want to be ganked when trying to do quests. I can remember trying to quest in Stranglethorn Vale only to be ganked for hours. I don't have the tolerance for it. I almost quit WoW when I was level 68 because me and the wife were questing in Netherstorm during the Wrath invasion and the zombies. The alliance was doing the zombie thing and infecting everybody in or around Area 51 and we couldn't turn in quests. We basically waited 3 days before logging back in just to wait out the invasion. Eff that nonsense. I ain't bout it.

I can definitely see quest pvp happening in the 25+ zones because Ive constantly ran into guardians without trying since then. Hell, in Iron Pine Peaks, one of the major quest hubs for defiant is literally right next to a guardian one. I almost ran into the guards accidentally just walking around lol

Just a tip: CC is broken in the sense where if you CC an enemy in front of neutral guards, they won't attack you. You can use all the fears, polys and pushbacks you want, and guards won't attack anyone until someone starts actually dealing damage. It makes it pretty easy to grief in neutral quest hubs, which is annoying.

I leveled quick as hell in that range without even trying just doing Lantern Hook at 42-46 and then Chalmers Caldera at 47-50. You can also get into a raid if possible and just go murder all the elite mobs in a circle around the castle in Stillmoor for fantastic fast exp and rep.

Yeah, I couldn't stomach a PvP server. Some of these quests are just annoying, especially if it's like a long crawl into a cave you have to fight back out of, only to get told to go back for the next quest.

Moonshade was annoying as fuck. Quest giver at left side of map, go do objectives on the other side of the map and the only way to get to them is to run through a thickly mob covered area. Finish quest, fight through shit to get back, and then it sends you right back to where you just were.

I'm certainly not looking forward to it. I might switch servers to a pve server. Anybody on a pve server with an active guild?

Fucking afkers in warfronts, got the same guy since lv20 just afking his way through warfronts, reported him over 20 times and nothing happened. He just sits at the entrance and waits there all game, and since guardians win most of the games on my server, he's been reaping a fuckload of rep and xp just watching tv.

I'd say keep reporting that shit and sending suggestions about that shit at the same time, and tell other people to do the same. If these guys are as responsive as they seem, they should get to it soon, i hope. I especially want the mount thing fixed, as well as auto sorting for the bags.

Weren't those 2 things adressed to be in development right now? I swear I saw it somewhere. Anyway, I'm kinda glad I remade a char on a RP server to follow my RL friend, since people there are MUCH more polite and seeing people RP while crafting is hilarious. The only real gripe I have with that server is that there is a lot less dungeon groups, most people being casual and only questing really doesn't help for that aspect.

Remove the afk boot and we have release que's or worse all over again. I do agree on the dismounts though and aggro rate at cap.

I guess but since the game already puts you in afk mode after 10-15 mins how hard would it be to cancel your entry in the queue and just all around consider you out of the game without actually booting you off.

Not that it's such an inconvenient mind you since it takes all of 5 seconds to log back in.

I'm pretty sure the reason why you never got afk booted in FFXI is because of the clearly different zones the load was a lot easier to handle, or some such thing. Though I do wish you could do that in other games, maybe in the next generation or something, doubt it's a high priority though.

Got my stuff returned on Monday morning. So it took 3 days in total from the time i sent the ticket in. Wish I could hit 50 this weekend, but I have 3 papers to write and two tests next week. o.x Have no time for vidya games for the next week.

I'm pretty sure the reason why you never got afk booted in FFXI is because of the clearly different zones the load was a lot easier to handle, or some such thing. Though I do wish you could do that in other games, maybe in the next generation or something, doubt it's a high priority though.

it's due more to server que's then anything else. I don't think XI has a server que system (prolly wrong here). Either way, XI had a lot of mechanics that encouraged staying logged in while afk

It's beyond fucking amazing being able to log right into an MMO in like 5 seconds as apposed to all that crap in XI. It's probably the main reason i never logged off, even more so than bazaaring occasionally.
