Wikipedia is still saying that it's going to be two seasons. Book 1: 12 episodes, Book 2: 14 episodes. The second season is what caused the delay in release apparently.

Probably to alter the storyline in a way that can lead into a second season instead of a finish to the series if I had to guess.

They still haven't said anything about the release date, all we know is that it's coming out in 2012 at some point.
