Well, I guess since I gather a lot and keep my affinity all the way into wind, I have never had less than like 5k wind shards.

You can make infinite of any shard with a R1 Alchemist. Malm Kelp are essentially a Lightning shard dupe (4 shards + Kelp = 12 shards on a NQ), and lightning shards can be turned into anything else with other R1 fish. In the case of Wind Shards, you can buy the Tiger Cod for 200g each (4 lighting+cod = 12 wind).
If you ever run out of shards, you're really not even trying.
Lightning crystals/shards is one thing. Wind ones are another story. I absolutely hate when it comes time to sit down and break my wind shards. It's either that or spend a crapload of time fishing so I can do it. Problem is I'm also taking all crafts to 30 so I don't really have a money-maker other than going out and solo'ing NMs for drops which are taking a nosedive in price everyday. You can try really hard not to run out of shards, but it will happen at some point, especially in the 30s-mid30s when the shard-to-crystal change-over hasn't happened yet.
Still takes a lot of time to do the conversion. So eventually you WILL run out of shards and have to sit down to do all that. I'll concede that you can cut out the actual fishing part. Not debating you can't do it, just that it is incredibly time consuming like everything else in this game.
I won't even pretend like I craft, but I'd think this would be the kind of thing that Hasty Hand is used for. Since I doubt you want to be spamming bold to try to HQ for more shards when they're already unlimited, or would be worried about getting SP from R1 synths.
Yep, you'd use Hasty Hand. Still takes awhile to break down a stack of 99 fish even with that. It's work to do more work and you have to do it between long crafting binges to replenish your stock at some point unless you just have oodles of gil to buy shards with straight up.
Is this still up to date?
No. Check out www.mooglebox.com - Find a recipe for your craft that is anywhere from 5-10 (I usually capped my choices at 8 and only went up if there wasn't an option) levels above your current level. Also consider mats and how easy they are to get.
Alternatively, Guildleves are pretty efficient ways of leveling now, but only become extremely good 40+
Also, keep in mind that focusing every synth on pushing Quality as much as you can actually yields better exp/time than mashing Standard to get them done, even for leves. A few hundred in Quality gains will double/triple+ your exp.
thanks for the tips.
