The basic plot progression of this seems very similar to Pitch Black. Not that I have a problem with that.

While plot is similar as Pitch Black, it's a bit more tantalizing.

It seems the arc goes a little something like this: Hunt Riddick, Capture Riddick, Monsters, Free Riddick, Monster chase, ???

So all we add is an awesome manhunt and capture in the beginning. Opening day for sure.

So, this is suppose to have taken place after the events in Chronicles and he was mutinied as emperor, and this is the planet he was thrown on or something like that?

Should be Pirian. I know Karl Urban is listed as "Vakko" and there was a Necromonger in the trailer. I'm interested to see HOW he was thrown out since technically they violated one of their main rules "You keep what you kill"...unless he decided to remove himself from the throne.

He gets betrayed then dumped on a planet that's similar to the one from Pitch Black. Someone tips off bounty hunters, etc etc. It's basically Pitch Black 2 which I am totally fine with. The Riddick universe worked better as a Sci-Fi Horror than a Sci-Fi Fantasy.
