LOL! I was wrong I guess:

I don't get it though. At least I had an excuse pre-Emps to do a Relic, why the fuck would people want to spend a good chunk of their time on a weapon that in most cases is inferior to Emps? People that bored?
My first problem with this is that Abyssea won't be endgame forever-- Atma/Abyssite buffs tuning up the Weapon Skills is what makes Emps super outclass Relics/Mythics in the first place. From there, theres still another 9~10 levels to go on upgrading weapons; who knows what SE has in store these days. However, the same can be said of Emps, lol.

I foresee Dynamis - Jeuno being a total clusterfuck due to the limited amount of space. Really though, it's a welcome adjustment. Dynamis was pretty gay to begin with. I think this will likely result in more currency coming in overall.

Not sure how to look at this. SE always said relics would be the pinnacle for their jobs. But, rather than making them stronger than Empyreans it seems like they want to just make them easier to get, that way they don't have to necessarily be stronger than Empyreans.

My opinion doesn't matter though, so I'll just shrug it off and upgrade another weapon.

SE made those statements about relic weapons when they were the only thing available at the time. I can't even imagine how some relic weapons would even be remotely close to the best thing available anyways without fundamental changes to them. I think the recent changes (WS damage improvements etc.) and the ones to come are mostly responses to the tremendous amounts of bitching they've received from relic holders. My opinion on relics were never good. I've always thought them to be flawed in that they were too difficult to obtain (people have lives etc.) and that most people who obtained them were exploiting the efforts of others. As long as they steer away from that mentality then I'll be contented.

In one wAy, it's basically more people doing dynamis = more coins so I am confident that the supply will meet the demand. I am excited about these changes and looking forward to The change. Dynamis was fun in the beginning but became so repetitive......Perhaps these changes can transform it into a more fun and less time consuming experience.

Unless people actually prefer the old way.....?

I would imagine that it would still be a 64 player limit. No more than 64 people allowed in zone at a time. With different people's key item expiring at various times, there should be a nice inflow and outflow of players. If they are allowing players to enter once per Earth day, they'll probably reduce the length of time you can be in the zone. Old timer was something like 3.5 hours max with 72 hour cooldown right? So in a week that's roughly 7 hours of Dynamis. Could limit it to 1 hour max with 24 hour cooldown and achieve the exact same "time contraints."

I don't think anyone prefers the old way. Dynamis has always been flawed, as Mojo said, for a plethora of reasons. It was fun back when we were all new and it was very hard, and you went with 40+ people, but the 72 hour wait period, the zone scheduling problems, the rarity of AF, the (previous) necessity of large groups, and the massive time sink of relics. The idea behind the relic weapons was great, but they probably took 2-3 times as long to make as they should have.

I think probably everyone is excited about the changes, but we're just a little apprehensive about how it will be implemented. Hopefully the dev team will hit a home run with it like they have been doing recently. Most people loved Abyssea, so making it more like that will definitely please the player base. And, without Atma and Primeval Brews, hopefully it'll retain a little bit of strategy and challenge.

Not hard to make some intelligent guess, just picture yourself as FF director and try to find some decent ways to generate income.

It must have been obvious to SE that reviving FFXIV takes time. Question is will the playerbase be willing to sit around and wait patiently for new updates. New FFXIV battle system will not be available for at least another 2 months, SE will have to consider the possibility of players leaving FFXIV for other MMO. Free subscription alone is not going to be good enough for them to keep wasting time on a boring game.

The upcoming adjustment of old FFXI content is designed to target players who quit before abyssea, especially those who left the game for FFXIV. Ideally they would have reactivated their FFXI accounts whilst waiting for new FFXIV updates but they obviously do not want to pay for abyssea expansions or go through the whole learning process. This group of players are more likely to return to FFXI if they are able to progress past lv75 without abyssea expansion. More income for SE for getting them to reactivate XI accounts so it will be a win win situation for both parties.

If this theory holds true, dynamis adjustment is going to be spectacular, exp/gear reward are likely to be comparable to Abyssea and we already know upgraded version of old gear can potentially match AF3+2.

The time restraint applies to all zones right? It's not gonna be like we do xarc one day then do tav the next and have to wait another 3 days to do tav. Or is it like that?

Apoc trumps redemption in utility, and i've had the paper sitting in my mog for years, so cheaper/easier currency is a big deal to me. Like others have said though, we'll have to see how they implement this.

    This.

I know this is all a discussion, but its hilarious how so many people jump to so many conclusions on how its going to ruin this and that. Shit, we have no idea wtf they have in store for sooooo many parts of the game. I guess I'm just optimistic on all future changes, only because they've been doing a decent job as of late, and they are seriously starting to listen to the player-base on what works, what doesn't. (so much as I hate social networking, i'm sure this company is banking on it). If FF14 is failing like everyone is saying, why would they make FF11 fail in tandem. I welcome this and very anxious to see what they do with Dynamis, shit AND campaign, AND Abys, AND the trials, and lvl 90-99... so much...

Because SE has deluded themselves into believing that they can revive FFXIV from the worst MMO launch in history.

Right now they only see FFXI as a cash cow to fund FFXIV's further development. They're only interested in keeping people playing right now. They don't care about the long term effects on the game because they believe that by that time everyone will have switched to FFXIV.

It's pretty obvious that Abyssea was intended to be one last big party that would let everyone feel as if they had beaten FFXI before the switched over to FFXIV. Everything about it was meant to cut the ties and allow people to leave FFXI behind.

That's stupid. Companies don't care if people feel they've completed a game, or reached some kind of cathartic moment, or finished some kind of weird gamer grieving process when it comes to a game. If it makes a profit, they'll keep running it. If it doesn't make a profit, they'll stop running it.

Today's JP Dev comments so far, mostly from Mocchi:
(Don't hate me, these are just Google Translates)

Posts that appear to be directly related to game issues:
    Thanks for posting!

Dynamis design changes are quite so high-impact story
I think we are more anxious.

Check the specification has been believed to be particularly necessary in the progression of this thread.
Since assuming the current specification only, that there may be changes
    Please confirm the assumption.

    ----------

    * The exclusive right of monsters and loot
Will be treated the same as normal field.
I think you'll conspicuous imagine the same format as it captures Abisea.

    * The loot drop rate
For costumes and Relic is not expected to change.
For the money, so more opportunities to try to reduce the number of times I tried to get one,
Tuned to a slight increase in circulation throughout the world.
    Thanks for posting!

Black Belt for the mitigation plan does not get. This is due to release due to the relative level cap, because it is a relief to some extent at present.

It seems that it is considering equipment higher than the black belt, when it appeared, could have some kind of adjustment is made.
Thank you for feedback on a number of world integration.

For background and schedule of this delay, we will comment on the fact that many people are concerned about others.

    Postponement schedule
As many gotten feedback that it has focused on congestion in some areas, such as Abisea and content, we must be determined together with the integration of measures in the development and operation teams. We apologize ahead of schedule Ni関Shimashite point integration has still not fully convey the information concerning the measures.

    About Character
We have gotten many comments about the unique character names when renaming. I am sorry about this, as initially announced, when you need to rename the duplicate characters from former world integration. Itadai such as those proposed several rule changes the name of those characters, because of the system can also affect the core of many that depend on character names in the correspondence is not realistic.

What is important is how we recognize the character names of course we also support in terms of its even on this difficult decision has to require the renaming.

We also stopped about the same time create a new character in this integration. This is carried out during last year's World integration occurred in the movement to keep some pre-created characters in a world where character names to ensure integration. As a result, causing it create Thus, there are many cases that occur that need to be renamed when the transfer. To avoid such a situation, this time we have carried out similar measures soon.

For additional information and content of future measures
Congestion measures such as adding new content and matters relating to upgrading, will "update" the forum will introduce one by one. The next large-scale version of the schedule and also including those for which the milestone is expected to be introduced soon.

Also those items, we will make decisions on development and management teams were fully player feedback from everyone.

You may have to be a tough decision like this, so what will be reflected in future services, I'd appreciate your opinion of the majority will continue unchanged.
    Other posts:
I was so happy to be discussed include the idea that you would invite the desired effect. Stated at the direction of some, I think I want to talk with people in charge of the development team.
