If they add more preorder goodies, they would be very wise to allow pre-existing characters to utilize the codes (instead of only working for freshly-created characters).

Here's hoping they're smart enough to set it up to handle it like XI's moogle delivery box. If they intend to do the contests and such for items in the future, they're going to need that capability.
Which pretty much confirms once again alpha/beta soon.pdate: Square Enix has clarified its previous statement: "In anticipation of the upcoming Alpha and Beta tests for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Square Enix, in coordination with our retail partners, has decided to discontinue sales of the current version of Final Fantasy XIV. This move was done to help ensure that new customers who register their copy of Final Fantasy XIV will have full access to the 30-day free trial period prior the servers shutting down to prepare for the Alpha and Beta tests of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn."
That pretty much confirms alpha starting in a month or so.
I wonder if they are concerned at all about the fact that people might move on to something else outside of FFXIV and not return when the servers come back up. I have a feeling this is going to happened to me and two other people :-/
I couldn't see anyone who willingly played 1.0 not sticking around for 2.0, unless they suddenly died or ran out of money, or just really, really hate anything that isn't original, 2004-era FFXI or '99-era EQ.
I would also not shed a tear for any of those people.
I don't really know about that though. Yeah, you see a decrease in MMO subs when the game goes off for a while. Though on the same note you also see a lot of increased interest if your PR and marketing arms are pushing the game correctly which gives you the "date watching" mindset of a release date for a title you're interested in. I would wager that SE won't be pulling punches in terms of marketing this. I'd actually be surprised if we didn't see TV commercials in all major markets the closer beta becomes.
Have less enthusiasm than when playing 1.0? Nah
So when the shit are they going to finally give us the trashed-items list? >:|
If you want a good gauge for how long until the servers go down, there it is ^
Until they release that kind of info, it's a safe bet it's well more than a month off.
I've been looking for this too! Don't want to spend my time working on getting stuff/keeping stuff that isn't going to be around 2.0. I only have 3 more behest locations to finish (probably can do that tonight) and I need to move onto more objectives on my bucket list. >_>

To troll us? There's no reason to not sell them.
:) Would be kind of cool if we could get that shirt with a custom to have your character's name on there.

Why would they even produce that shirt without the intent to eventually give/sell it to... you know... "meteor survivors?" I'm hoping just to gauge interest, but it's common sense that most 1.0 players would be interested.Originally Posted by rukkirii

I always thought rested exp was the MMO equivalent of bonus exp days. That way you can use it whenever the heck you want.
They posted some gamescom photos on their FB page, here's a huge ass photo with Yoshi and the UI:

Notice "Shot" as a lv 15 ability.
Almost everyone currently playing will get into beta sooner or later so I wouldn't worry too much about people leaving for good tbh.
Spoilered the size.
Spoiler: show
Thats probably the ranged WS that Yoshi kept spamming... Also in one of the videos he does it mid-jump.![]()
Seem like something that will make those throwing spears more useful
