gah, did i miss the beta release?
You can class what we are currently playing as beta still, not paying for subscriptions yet
Edit: nvm -.-
Whoosh lol.

They are trying to squeeze some info out on our skill sets and changing classes.
Well you eventually saw all the spells in XI; granted, it took years and years, but yes, you'll see them eventually.
@Vutton: Can't you do those as a Gardner? How's a gardner going to utilize those mechanics to avoid damage in the fights? XIV has far more problems than simply being rooted to the ground. The entire job system is flawed.
@Hyan: Jesus man, one post you're a XIV-critic, the next you're shooting everything that isn't XIV down with gatling guns. Are you ever happy with what you play?
I did it as a fisher. I had no problems with optimal gear. 1500 HP was plenty and with constant regen from never entering active mode I never went below 50% HP. The mobs rarely use their melee or ranged attacks to boot.
Anyway, my point was that the battle system doesn't limit the creativity of unique encounters, because the encounters are created with the battle system in mind. Being as that someone mentioned they wished FFXIV had a battle scenario with a taru casting meteor at them prompting them to move out of way to avoid the damage, I provided an example where this exact mechanic is already implemented in-game (mega-weapon / move out of the way).
Then someone hinted indirectly that people should be able to one-shot encounters, which I disagree with. Then they responded that I missed the point, but failed to clarify what their point actually was. Something to do with unfamiliarity with battle mechanics creates boring players I think, but I also disagree with. Players are dynamic and will adapt to unfamiliar encounter mechanics. Its called formulating a strategy for success.
I am not defending the current battle system. There is also a distinction between the class system and the battle system, even though they are related. The class system does not limit the creativity of battle encounters either, though. It does limit the excitement of them for battle classes, however.
I am not even bothering with the battle classes until the new system is implemented.
The difference is, the time spent moving away while not being able to do any damage to the mob, would more than likely end in a wipe in other MMO's. Having to do all that while keeping your dps rotations, healing, and CC is so much more fun when you have to do it instantly, to me anyways.

Now trying to get some more info on missing genders.
Still trying to get one of them to post in my thread... No dice.
I somehow doubt we'll get much squeezed out of them regarding classes yet. They already broadly covered their plans during the interviews, and the responses regarding other stuff (aside from more specific DP talk) have been just as vague. I think after 1.17 things should get more interesting on that front.
Even though I don't expect them to green light dealing with the gender-issue at least it will shut these people up for a while at least. It's not really something I'd expect before an expansion.
Still beats the letter IMO.
Also Kuro, I'm pretty sure we won't see news the traditional/advanced classes til early summer or so, pretty sure if we see any class changes it will be to give the current classes a set role.
Ehh, C9 consists of mostly instances PSO/U style? It's still going to take some time to get that working in an open world environment I'd think. TERA is not that far though.
I dunno about C9, don't really care. I'm not about to play a Korean only game... but TERA for sure is open world and has action styled gameplay and will be coming out over here so I'm definitely going to try that.
http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/85565-Guild-Wars-2 strange how there is never any mention. I guess its really under the radar here =/, it will be setting a new standard I am certain
I don't count it when I talk about MMORPGs simply because of the pay style, although I probably should since it does so many things right.
Uh... it's an MMORPG, no matter what the paystyle is. The first game was different though, the developers never said the first game was an MMORPG, and it wasn't designed to be.
Have to agree with Taki, I don't feel like enough people are paying attention to it, and it's the one with the most innovative features (not in the FFXIV way, the good way) so far.
Considering that BG is a FF-first and everything else-last forum site, color me unsurprised.
