That's something I can agree with you on. However, that doesn't stop the wedding side story from being totally boring. The ripple effect from the murder, to me, is interesting for all the other stories- the school, the victim's family, the campaigns, etc but falls short with this marriage/move. You see teachers losing their careers, rehabilitation programs getting shut down, political campaigns rising and falling at the mercy of the detectives' focus and their political decisions based on that, a father struggling with the loss of his only daughter and explaining it to his boys and having his plans to move to a nicer home ruined with a wife in emotional pieces and a cunt mother-in-law and dealing with who he thought was his daughter's murderer... and then you have a missed flight and it's like 'who gives a fuck, we knew you weren't going anyway, just like last week'.

Honestly, remove the wedding and the father being former OC and you have lost nothing from the story. Seems pointless to me. Maybe they are saving this up to build upon for something bigger in the future? I dunno, but at this point it's not adding much, imo.

Eh, I don't think they really jumped the shark like that yet. Let it flesh out. Thinking at the moment that...

    Spoiler: show
Rosie was returning a book and seen something she shouldn't have seen (Muhammed fucking his wife, she said she was parked outside the school, not verified though). Muhammad killed her. Terrorism is a red herring. A couple questions that are still unanswered...

    1. Where was Rosie really staying that weekend?
    2. Why do we have so many fucking potential crimescenes. A jacket in a field, a shirt in a ice freezer, and a body in a lake. How do they all link?

I don't think the wife had anything to do with it, just because at the end when the teacher was on the phone with Muhammad and she overheard and had a shocked look on her face. Her husband was talking about passports and telling him the police don't know anything. Not sure if it has anything to do with the murder or not, but made me think she doesn't know anything. Of course, it will all probably change next week.

Was going to make a topic since I tried searching (search still broken?) and nothing showed up. Anyway...

    Spoiler: show
Tyche completely changed the way I was thinking about the opening scene. Started leaning towards Kris and Jasper chasing what may have been Rosie through the woods after the "rape video." But back to the Teacher: There's something a little off about his wife in all of this, she looks like she knows something about Rosie's death and the teacher isn't in on it or like someone mentioned before Rosie saw something she shouldn't have when she "returned" the book. Maybe she realized that the teacher and Mohammed were into some dirty dealings and needed to be silenced, or (might be a stretch) the teacher was living a double life and has multiple or was going to flee the country with Rosie and the wife found out. Argh! my head hurts, from thinking of all the outcomes!

as expected, the terror plot was a red herring. The passports and phone conversations were related to them smuggling out girls to prevent circumcision, as well as the use of the room. I'm guessing his passport was flagged by the FBI when he was moving other girls to and fro canada. Case looks to be cold, and now the Larson father is probably going to get locked up, Bennett possibly dead and innocent. all that is absurdly beyond circumstantial, but what really irked me was the Somalia girl having the same shirt as Rosie. That was a bit of a reach. Still, good episode. The mayor race, which is what I look forward to the most, is really turning now. Love that plot line.

As soon as they showed the scene with the teacher in his class room and all the students got up and left and he started to cry... I finally knew that he really didn't do it. Then I started feeling sorry for the poor guy. Now I bet he is either dead or badly fucked up, and like you said, her father and his friend are probably going to jail. And it looks like it going to go the way I didn't want it to, it is going to be some random person out of no where that we have not even met yet. I guess the note they found with the girl's name and a time will lead them in the right path.

I think it's going to be a character we've met. I can't see them pulling something out of their ass.

My theory for who did it, without any solid justification other than a feeling of how the show is being cut:

    Spoiler: show
Stan's flunky seems too obvious, too whacked out, too weird. I think he's the next red herring for who did it, after the Bennet beating. One of the reasons I think he didn't do it is (Danish show spoiler)
    Spoiler: show
He was the one who did it in the Danish version, and they said they went a different route. Which, of course, could be a red herring itself.

My current thinking for who did it is Midge's sister. Her scenes have always been oddly constructed, she's forced herself into a position as an integral part of the family, they keep making references to her "having a life of her own," but she's at the Larsen's place 90% of the time. I don't have a motive yet (wants a family life?), but all of her scenes seemed deliberately staged as though they're setting up for a big reveal. She has also received a ton of face time for someone who is only peripherally tied to the story line. We found out tonight that Rosie had been in her car very recently, and left books in the car. I have no solid motive for her or "how she did it" yet, but I'm definitely paying more attention to scenes when she's involved.

Totally is going to be the incumbent mayor. Likes young girls and used his opponent's campaign car to ditch the body. /notreally
Shows like this are kinda frusterating because anybody could have done it and you know the investigators are going to run through their list and cross people off, but not really cross them off, only to have some shocking reveal in the last 10 minutes of the last episode that was totally out of nowhere. Not that that is necessarily bad, but it makes it incredibly tough to make any educated speculations when you know that the story could be turned on it's head at any second.

I'm more interested in the characters themselves than who actually did it, which may sound weird. The why is more important than the who. Oh and i totally agree with Tyche about the mayor plot line.

I am really sad that it went this way too... not really a disappointment but a genuine grief for the story. I knew he couldn't have done it all along but it really did click when they showed the classroom scene. He's more then likely dead the way Mr. Larsen was braining him... so they're definitely going down which is fucking horrible for that family .

On topic of "whodunnit?" I'm gonna go with the new lead they put in the teaser, I doubt they'll roundabout to an already known character at this point but seriously who the fuck knows lol, show really leaves you guessing.

That was a rather huge leap now that I think about it, especially if her parents are that dedicated to their heritage (sup circumcision/arranged marriage) she would probably wear traditional clothing most of the time but meh. I guess they felt they needed to for a huge twist so it doesn't really bother me.

this episode is boring and unnecessary, just watch first 5 minutes and skip to the last 30 seconds and you wont miss a thing.

Enjoying this series too, don't mind that it's slow sometimes.

Don't know if you guys know, this is based on the Danish series with the same name (Forbrydelsen): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0826760/

Don't think you can enjoy both though (I didn't see the Danish version) because then you know who did it. But I know some people who watched the Danish version, it's pretty popular here in EU.

Their first season was 20 eps. And there's a second, shorter season I believe. Same main chars but different story or case I guess. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1517495/

Agree pointless fluff. I don't think you needed 12 episodes for this story, I would have been happier with 6 and a lot less fluff.

after being pulled back in by days 9 & 10, last night annoyed me too. the only way i won't see it as COMPLETELY pointless is if it does go a few more seasons(murders?), and there we have some character development. but still. kind of wish i didn't watch it and banged out the last 3 episodes all at once. still a fan of the show though.

i don't think i said it before but i avoided the original version, i know it went for a short second season, but here i'm hoping for some additional full seasons. has there been any real news on this or just rumors?

It was picked up for a second season already if I remember correctly, but it's suppose to be an all new cast/setting.

This is what I'm assuming it is. I can't imagine that they are going to devote a full episode to character development this late in the season if the characters aren't going to be around in Season 2.

I kind of understand what they were trying to do with last night's episode -- illustrate that if your child goes missing or is in danger, everything else gets put on hold, while simultaneously putting Sarah through a portion of the grief that the Larsens are going through. But despite some solid character development, I was also frustrated by the lack of progress with the story. I don't feel that episodes like this should happen this late in a season.

I really wanted to strangle the casino bosses at the start of the episode. If a legal warrant takes a week, my thought was that the detectives could have called Richmond to apply pressure to the case via the media, threatening them with bad publicity. Maybe that's what they'll do next episode; or maybe the picture of Rosie on the casino ATM cameras will be enough to get some access.
