    River of souls world event

    So the shard I'm in easily made it up to the phase 3 where you raid it up in some sorta instance. Went there with a pug since the phase 2 had just ended and nobody knew wtf.

    So after the little server cutscene thingy with Alsbeth, Asha Catari and that nub guardian leader we enter the portal, get into the instance.
    There were like 4-5 full raids up there that entered at the same time, not a single one made it through the whole thing.

    Idk about the others but my raid actually got obliterated on the first pull. (srsly, couldnt even get a mob to 99% health.)

    Any stories of a group winning somewhere? Obviously I guess pugs aren't the way to go. What do you get if you succeed?

    The event was only put in place to introduce the new 20man raid, River of Souls. The way it was intended at first was to fight Alsbeth on top of that tower, but they removed the fight due to mechanics, since they put a bigass AoE on her and too many people died in Alpha. The way they introduced the new dungeon with an event is, in my opinion, pretty clever, but it definitely wasn't executed properly. At least everybody is going to have a freebie in their mail relatively soon since Trion realized everybody hated Phase 2&3.

    As for my raid, we made it to the first boss but got wtfstomped (understandable since I was in a PuG).

    They actually removed the phase 3 fights due to server congestion. Their servers can handle a lot of people in an area just fine, but they cannot handle a lot of people attacking the same monster at the same time very well. This is also why all the bosses spawned at the same time during phase 2, as opposed to how they were on the alpha server where they were staggered and you could easily participate in most of the zone bosses.

    But yeah, entering and trying to clear the instance was not intended to be part of the world event. The world event was just the unveiling of that raid, which is supposed to be on par with GSB so I wouldn't expect anything more than nice scenery when entering with an impromptu pug group after the world event ended.

    I think Trion has learned their lesson from this event, I'm sure world events in the future will take these server constraints into consideration when they're designing them so it can actually be fun...
