10 minutes of trash to first boss in GS, 25 minutes of trash to first boss in RoS. Not sure how that's hard or an hour lol. 4 trash pulls in GS before the first boss, if it takes 15 minutes to kill 3-4 mobs in a trash pull, send your dps back to the T2's they aren't running in the first place lol.

Some shards are empty. I play on an EU server, Overlook, and I login during peak time to try and find groups. I even play a Bard because I like it! But it's like a ghost town... No one is doing anything. No daily raid rifts, expert dungeons, or even hunting normal rifts for the new dailies...
Choosing bad shards to play in might have made people shrug on rerolling an a different shard and just left.

Been weeks since i logged in, haven't been playing any MMOs at all. I did have an FFXI dream last night out of nowhere that hit me with a nostalgia bomb pretty hard tho...

Really i just couldn't level up. like 35 or something, i was sold on the Rifts and zone invasions, not the wow questing. Theres hardly anybody my level who also wants to rift and invasions don't trigger at all. Trion is great at content but server population needs to be maintained much better than it is currently so that invasions happen. This is probably the oversight with rifts and invasions.

Wolfsbane still gets 30min queues on weekends from 6pm-2am EST...seriously. I cant really bring myself to feel sorry for those of you who hopped to/between low pop servers during headstart though.

Fuck appearances, they should just merge servers for the sake of keeping current players.

Your realize that server was one of the "full" servers w/in hours of servers coming up, right? Not many ppl want to pick a server that has a 1k que the day after release

I think "not different enough from WoW" sums it up well enough.

Graphics are pretty turned up to maximum settings but that doesn't keep people around or Aion would have had more staying power too. Also not to toot my own horn but my initial thought about Rifting was that it would get boring fast, and (for me at least) it did.

My biggest issue has been pugging, which surprised the hell out of me as tanking is my main with a dps offset. I went a week shouting for a pug with no bites (1-2 hrs per day) then Saturday I had 2 dungeons back to back with different pugs. Byriel used to have huge queue's, but now I haven't run into anyway. Were supposedly medium pop server, but I really wish I knew the population stats for our server as far as amount of 50's, guardian/defiant ratios, etc.

Shouldn't have removed my sig so early, sigh.

You can do old things in new ways, ways that make said features your own. Rift failed hard at this.

Plus, personally I felt the story, lore and world was shit. Hard to get interested about what happens regardless of how dynamic it is laid out when the creators clearly forgot to make the setting interesting.

Plus, fuck the individualistic mentality. "I alone am the hero" mantra was repeated over and over from the intro cs, to hell with that shit.

I don't agree in the sense that the game is dying, it's just the basic mmo formula, if you've seen it before it's the same here. Lot of new/improved additions coming in patch 1.2, tomorrow:

Full list of Rift 1.2 Features:
    • Facebook Integration – Post updates, screenshots, or Achievements from Telara directly to your Facebook profile!
    • Looking for Group– Automatically form groups for dungeons, rifts, and group quests. Complete random expert dungeons for additional bonuses, both for the daily player and the weekend warrior!
    • Wardrobe – Players can configure up to five outfit slots to choose between - look however you want, and break out those costume items.
    • New Ascended Powers – Omen Sight (Guardian) and Quantum Sight (Defiant) reveal openings to Slivers and even more in the future.
    • Additional Role – By popular demand, players can purchase a 5th role for even more class flexibility.
    • Many UI Improvements –Auction House, Crafting, and Artifacts all receive useful new refinements.

    New Content in Rift 1.2:
    • Gilded Prophecy Sliver – Rift extends its support of 10-player raids to this new type of instance! Fight against Golden Maw cultists from another reality to prevent them from gaining relics of vast power.
    • New Dynamic Content – Two new raid rifts, one new expert group rift, rifts specifically designed around rewarding crafters, and easier access to expert group rifts.
    • New Zone Events:
      • Planar Chill – Control strategic locations in Iron Pine Peak against planar onslaught
      • Scourge of the Sands – Defend precious resources as they are moved to critical locations in Shimmersand Desert, then launch a counter attack
      • An Eye for an Eye– Guardians and Defiants summon their respective champions in order to defeat the Colossi in this end-game brawl.

I don't disagree, but there was a lot of "this is the WoW killer, no really" rhetoric here and elsewhere when the game was in beta. Game didn't live up to the hype.

Well, last I checked WoW isn't doing so hot either and did have a noticeable loss in active players shortly after Rift (something I hadn't noticed from the Aion launch and such) and I know I have little/no interest in going back to WoW, aside from playing alts a bit. It could have the effect that some people experienced with FFXI, once they gave it up for a block of time, it lost most of its appeal. Though WoW has historically been immune to that mindset, so who knows.

Do we know if these people are going back to WoW from Rift?

I tried going back to XI about a year ago and could only take about 3 days. That ship has sailed for me and i'm not looking back.

I do agree that people may be just bored with the genre, which is understandable.

I think people are just going offline right now, haha. No MMO right now is making massive waves. I have a feeling that GW is really going to make a big, big splash. With no monthly fee, its something you can just plop down and play, then not play for days or weeks without any loss.

Wow has been declining for a while, its just now becoming noticeable to the general public. But ppl aren't leaving WoW for rift. If this was the case then 90% of servers wouldn't be low/med during prime time. rift servers are also tiny, XIV tiny. Their pop cap is just over 50% of WoW's server cap
