I think the game is WoW, but worse. I don't think you get it.
And no way the game has over 1mil subs. Somebody posted a population chart like a month ago and it showed the game, at that time, around 600k. No way I believe it's subs had gone up since that chart I saw was still in the 1-2 month release range
And that chart if it's the one I'm thinking of was quickly butchered as being inaccurate due to the search tool limitations.
For some completely new or restarting from scratch, I'm gonna say 1-90 in a day is unlikely if only because of limit breaks and the initial 1-30 push. However, if you can get people willing to let you leech in Abyssea, rocketing from 30 to 90 can be done fairly quickly. Actually been leveling my BRD tonight, started at 37, and until about level 55 or so was getting a level every 2-3 minutes once lights and mob chain was built up. Just dinged 63 now after maybe 1:45.
I swear, leeching has fucking killed xp parties I hate it >_< I would rather do an xp party then just sit there and get xp -_-
So starting from scratch, once I hit 90 how long would it take to get into end game content? Would I need to gear up through most expansion content to be able to join? If so, how often is older content done?
I have not played FFXI in quite some time, but I really enjoyed it while I did.
Wouldn't take long at all because "End Game" is Abyssea lol. If you were competent before Abyssea and you are now, it won't be hard to gear yourself off AH. Old content is rarely done, especially via shouts. I would suggest getting yourself into an established LS or low man group and getting what you need from there. You really only need the first three abyssea expansion to get fully caught up, for the most part. The rest is just improvements but not as big as Abyssea.
It wouldn't take terribly long at all. AH for some stuff, magian trials can give you a weapon, you can buy many pieces of armor for some form of currency (be in Conquest points, Imperial standing or Cruor).
If you got yourself into a decent LS, or have a friend or two to get you into one, all you need is one Abyssea party to start things off with some cruor, then you can basically be a key-man and leech in exp parties all the way to 90. And for a lot of things all you need is your job to perform. If you're a warrior you'll be wanted so long as you have one of each weapon, skilled up, to get a red !! trigger. And you'll contribute.
Most of the 75 cap gear still used are offpieces, like earrings and necklaces. Sea torques are still solid (though I'm thinking some are replaced depending on job) and suppa/brutal are great too. But the rest of the stuff is all new stuff, with some cheap things you can buy off the AH as you work towards the best.
Didn't know rift turned into the new XI subforum.. not that i care, shows how this game is dying
Started playing a new toon again and I forgot how good the game looks. Its been fun taking a more relaxed pace this time around, considering I was in a frenetic race last time trying to keep up with my guild for raiding purposes.
Obviously Rift is solely dependent on BG's in game population!
Hey, don't you know BG is like the illuminati and shit, dictating what, when, and how everyone plays mmo's?
I think the underlying engine for Rift is solid and has plenty of legs. How the content of the game can be improved on to keep people playing is a different matter and as we can see from peoples comments there are plenty of ideas. I like Rift and I hope it is able to deliver, otherwise we will see less companies committing the money to create MMO's that don't bring anything really knew to the genre that hasn't already been done. I liked FFXI, I liked EQ, and there are some things I like about WoW, but right now Rift really isn't doing anything different in a way that keeps me coming back for more.
We'll see what happens now that the dungeon finder required the dungeons to be nerfed to shit so they can be solo healed. I'm actually curious how the majority of players feel about them now. I personally don't find them fun anymore.
Guilded Prophecy, the new 10-man is a ton of fun, but i see many people screaming that it's too difficult. I'm hoping it doesn't get nerfed also but i know better.
