USB port / Monitor issue

Built me a pretty decent rig last october. it performs great, with one minor exception. whenever i plug anything in to the front ports (headphone/mic, or USB) my monitors will shut off, displaying "signal not detected" and then go into hibernate. the PC is still active. if i am gaming or watching a movie, it continues on, uninterrupted. the only way to get them to come back on is by doing a full reset of the PC. once it is back up, both monitors and the port i connected in to work fine. hooking in to the rear ports creates no issues, just the fron ones. any suggestions would be appreciated.

here are my system stats, if needed:

Case: Thermaltake Element G
Mobo: ASUS M4A89TD
Mem: Kingston 4Gb (2x 2gb) DDR3
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
Graphics: XFX HD-583X-ZAFV Radeon HD 5830
OS: Windows 7 Pro OEM for System Builders

Without googling it, id say just uninstall/reinstall the chipset/usbdrivers/videodrivers.
Also reseat the USB connections from the front and the video card for good measure.


Edit: Google says it could be a grounding issue, so when youre reseating, take a look at the wires to see that theyre all there and have a good connection. Says to also see if your PSU sucks, and also check for IRQ conflicts.
