In the Lost World book, the sequel to the Jurassic Park book, there is a dinosaur that IIRC was a real dinosaur but Michael Crichton sort of took liberty with scientific educated guessing and gave it some ability to camouflage itself into it's surroundings. It was also bigger than a T-rex but they haven't put it in any of the films. I'm guessing this is their way of using that concept, idk.

I might be the only Crichton fan that did not like Jurassic Park (novel). Refused to pick up Lost World because of it.

I feel like they didn't have to go in this direction for these movies to still be entertaining... It's deep blue sea with dinosaurs instead of sharks. It's predator. It's alien. Can they even do anything after this?
