    I find it amusing this would seem to be your premier gripe with the game. So, while I know some like to their panties in a bunch over some digital titties, the bigger culprit for its lacking popularity (not to be confused with the implication of failure) should lie more in its MMO mechanics. Poor storytelling and lame quests aplenty? Check. Heavy reliance on RNG for farming and enchanting? Double check. Crafting being so poorly tuned that you'd probably outlevel a gear range twice over before you could farm up the ingredients to make a set? Triple check.

    Certainly the combat can be more fun with positioning and reactions being more of a factor, but it takes more than eye candy to make a great game.

    I do see some of the other issues, but one can expect it after playing MMOs before. This game does seem to exemplify the repeated kill x of y, to the point that you kill 3 sets of the same-skinned x in a row, or a mission sends you back to kill the exact same x after a quest had you do it... The gathering/crafting is a bit of a joke and the enchanting is more of an incentive to grind a little extra, but neat and the crit on weapons seems like something a F2P would monetize it's so nice. That said, the controls take a bit to get used to with the default active aiming mouse.

    But yes, I think the main factor is that it would be more embarrassing for an avg MMO-playing adult to get really into this game than most other MMOs. Imagine explaining just about any female outfit, especially Elin, to a passerby that sees your screen! It's a draw for some, but a huge reason to dismiss the game for (I would say) most.

    "Made by Koreans."

    My problem with how TERA looks isn't the default/intended armour, but all those schoolgirl/swimsuit/dumbshit outfits they release. Just makes the game look like a bunch of cosplayers which is annoying because originally it actually looked like a fantasy game.

    I can't imagine other character models will really make the explanation much different beyond the fact of playing any mmo in a public setting to begin with.

    The koreans [and other peoples in general apparently] really eat all the costume/cosplay stuff up. Same stuff was added to other ncsoft games and it sells unfortunately, probably far more than realistic/setting appropriate skins.

    There also should only be a handful of times while leveling where you have to return to the same mobs repeatedly. If you are keeping up with story quests; it should always be two birds with one stone.

    There's just something fun about running around as a bunny in a snowsuit and a giant axe killing hugefuck insectoids, or as a slutty demon elf chick in lingerie and a giant shield. Maybe i'm just your typical male but its entertaining in a way a lot of MMos are not nowadays.

    That said the story was....well there wasn't a story at all really. Best thing the game has is the combat, yet to play a game where I enjoyed fighting shit over and over again like I did in TERA.

    I actually thought the story was ok;

    Spoiler: show
    Samuel is a traitor, Freya likes the gruff dragon cock (not surprised) but boyfriend sacrifices himself, kelsaik story and sacrifices, and then blah blah I've got shit to do and the queen wants to kill everyone with hate and laser beams

    Sure won't beat final fantasy, warcraft, lotr but that's squaresoft story telling, WoW's predated itself for the longest time, and cmon now. Can't tell you what any others were about besides "I dont like them guys, but it might be a misunderstanding".

    Rift had a pretty good concept and plot. Not many games had two separate factions consisting of the present "We'll beat the bad guys when the time comes!" vs the future "No, you won't, hence why my future is fucked." factions. I thoroughly enjoyed killing Defiant scum, but I won't deny that I wouldn't mind playing a single player RPG that allowed you to follow the same storyline while choosing your starting faction.

    Yeah that was the starter area plot, but do you have any idea what the rest of the story was until 50? Then experts through the raids?

    I'm thinking of making a triumphant return to Tera and was wondering how the newer dungeons are? Hoping to level with a friend and get some old friends back playing this, but does anyone from BG still play on MT? I'll be pretty much lost when I come back and if my friends don't want to play casual, I might need a new guild that is pretty laid back.

    I'll check them out, but do you know if they patched the dragoons in Dragonfall from spam recalling their minions? I was going to try and get my sorc up out there but they just wouldn't spawn a second set. I really don't want to have to read through 8 or 9 months of patch notes to find out lol.

    Ugh. shenanigans... I'll have to look up whatever this corsair thing is.

    I had to start a character from scratch to learn the game again lol. Kept trying to strafe (damn you FFXIV) and firing off skills on my Mystic and Lancer. ><;

    I'm having fun in this game again, but man... I can't find a decent guild to save my life. First one I joined, fell apart in the first week I was there. Second one, it's boring as hell. Guess it is too big, because people have their pre-made groups and don't really let anyone in. That and I'm sick of getting ridiculed for my lack of knowledge of current content when I just came back after a 9 month absence. Think I'm about to go guildless again.

    All the guilds left shortly after alliance patch. F2P dregs overran everything, few guilds made up of bads around, and a very rare veteran left who you will probably never see open world. Games dead with those few vets keeping a presence due to the combat love. I feel for anyone new wanting to seriously play/progress at this point.

    Yeah, it totally sucks how the F2P group is horrible. The trolls from sub style games are annoying, but my god, Tera's community is horrendous and I don't blame people for quitting the game because of how things turned out. I'm honestly thinking of quitting again because the community is so bad. I'll stick it out for a little bit longer, but we'll see. I'll probably dip out again soon and go practice my terrible SSFIV combos haha.

    Ed and Quby: If you guys want, I can probably get you guys in my guild. We're pretty PVE oriented, so it shouldn't take long to catch up in terms of gear and content - Hell, I already have VM2 weapon and I've only been back for 2 weeks. There's usually about 10-20 people on and people are always willing to help out. Let me know.

    Definitely Tsumi, I've just been sitting around doing solo dungeons. I don't know if Quby is still interested in the game or not. But I will pass the message on to him too.
