To be released on PS4 in Early 2014http://gematsu.com/2013/10/planetsid...-in-early-2014The PlayStation 4 version of free-to-play online shooter PlanetSide 2 will launch in early 2014, Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley has confirmed.
Speaking with Bloomberg, Smedley said, “We’re going to be following up that [DC Universe Online's availability on PlayStation 4 at launch] in early next year with our next game PlanetSide 2 for PS4.”
Though previously confirmed for the platform, a release date for PlanetSide 2 was not announced. Now, at least, we have a time frame.

I love PS2. I've clocked a pile of hours as TR. Only problem is finding a group of people that can actually communicate and aren't mentally handicapped. Soloing it isn't to bad though if you prioritize the right skills.
Early 2014 changed to "first half of 2014," Paypal integration revealedhttp://www.vg247.com/2014/01/25/ever...-half-of-2014/Smedley also said during the AMAA that he expects PlanetSide 2 to launch on PS4 during the first half of 2014.
“This year is what we’re shooting for,” he said. “It’s taking time to do this right but coming along great.”
Smedley also said the team “failed” regarding the Mac port for PS2, but now that the developer has “gotten the optimization patch out of the way” he will “re-light this fire.”
He also said SOE MMO players will finally be able to pay for their subs using PayPal “fairly soonish” and are working with Valve on “some Steam wallet, subscription stuff.”

Forgot about this thread.
Planetside 2 recently underwent optimization, making it play better on all machines. Amerish and esamir both polished and latticed. New weapons ect. Some random screens because everyone loves screenshots.

PS+ is not needed to playhttp://www.vg247.com/2014/06/06/plan...quire-ps-plus/
Sony has confirmed its sci-fi MMO PlanetSide 2 will not require a PlayStation Plus subscription to play online via PlayStation 4.
The game will be present at E3 next week where attendees can get hands-on time with the title. It will be present during MLG Anaheim June 20-22.
“One of the best things about working on a game like PlanetSide 2 is that it’s a living, evolving game that’s constantly being updated and improved upon,” creative director Matt Higby said on the PS Blog. “In addition to work being done for PS4, the team is working on a lot of content and game systems enhancements to the live game.
“Some of the biggest features we’re excited to deliver in the next few months are: Hossin, our fourth full 64sqkm continent, an advanced achievement system called Directives, player-driven continent conquest/locking, and expansions to our game’s Outfits systems.”
These new features will be implemented on both the PC and PS4 versions of the game, and new features and content will continually be added to the game “for years to come” he said.
PlanetSide 2 will be a free-to-play title when it launches on PS4.

Man, I played original Planetside for ages, and planetside 2 when it came out but quit due to low population/popularity. I heard it went free to play, how has this affected things?
It's actually pretty damn populated. It is free to play, and has been for as long as I have known Planetside 2, but like all things free to play, there's a cash shop. The good thing is you can get all items that directly affect gameplay by just playing. The only things you can't purchase with ingame currency is Cosmetics like different armors and colors.
I used to have a lot of fun rolling with a company inbetween XIV 1.0 and 2.0. 30-40 man teams just storming areas, defending, galaxy dropping. Lot of fun, and a lot of frustration depending on which faction you pick. Some things are factually overpowered over others. Fucking Vanu piece of shits.
I played a lil bit over the weekend when I get an FPS kick. Things are doing well in the game though the planetside subreddit sometimes highlights the buggy stuff more often than not.
It's moderately entertaining. Also the community does prop up some server vs server action via serversmashes on the test server.
Man, why doesn't any of that shit ever happen when I'm playing?! I would just about lose it.
