    Ragnarok Critical Hit Testing

A friend of mine decided to test level 90 Ragnarok's critical hit rate and I'm posting his data if anyone's interested in it. Campaign fortifications were used for all tests.

    Bahamut's Scythe - 1019 hits - Crit% 25.02 (255)

    Ragnarok - 1008 hits - Crit% 35.62 (359)

    Ragnarok w/ maintained Aftermath - 1040 hits - Crit% 43.37% (451)

    Gear / Dex stats:
    Spoiler: show

    DEX 81+14

    Ragnarok Test Gear:
pole grip, bomb core, drk af3+2 head, ganesha's mala, bale earring, brutal earring, timarli jawshan, drk af3+2 hands, rajas ring, blitz ring, atheling mantle, goading belt, calmecac trousers, ace's leggings

    Ragnarok w/ Aftermath Test Gear:
pole grip, bomb core, drk af3+2 head, ganesha's mala, bale earring, brutal earring, timarli jawshan, drk af3+2 hands, rajas ring, blitz ring, atheling mantle, goading belt, ace's hose, ace's leggings

Just ace's hose and calmecac trousers switched.

First, thank him for doing these tests, and thanks for posting them. I've wondered about this for a while and there has been a Wiiiiide range of numbers out there. This narrows it down considerably.

    Control: 25.0% +/- 2.7%
    No AM, Level 90 Ragnarok: 35.6% +/- 3%
    AM, Level 90 Ragnarok: 43.4% +/- 3%

I'd be unsurprised to learn that it's +11% from "Increases Critical Hit Rate" similar to Spharai's +11 counter. Then I'm going to guess the AM is +8%?

If he wants to test it an easier way, he can use the 100% crit method in Abyssea to see how much crit gear/merits he needs to stack before he can Crit 300 times in a row.

Would also be nice if you gave us your friend's name so we can give him credit.

I (Fiv) did the testing, however i don't have the weapon myself so i used a friend's (Acreus) character while he wasn't on along with my bard mule (Fival).

Also testing with the campaign fort seemed easier then abyssea, because i would actually take damage in abyssea on drk, and i could afk for the scythe and no aftermath tests on the fort in garliage/cnest/necropolis so long as battles continued. I don't do much testing of anything though either, so i just assumed that would be easy and show an accurate difference between an ordinary weapon and Ragnarok(90).

It certainly is, and it's much better than what we had before.

The only reason to go into Abyssea is to speed it up and get it even more accurate, but if it isn't your character then your personal investment in it probably doesn't merit the last 2% accuracy, haha. The benefit would have been that you wouldn't have needed a control.

If you wanted to do it, going into Abyssea with:
    1) SQ + GH + RR + Base + Merits + Bale Cuirass +2 + Ragnarok = 89% + Ragnarok : Would confirm Ragnarok's "Increases rate of critical hits IV" is at or above 11%
    2) GH + RR + Base + Merits + Bale Cuirass +2 + Ragnarok + AM = 79% + Ragnarok : Would confirm AM + Ragnarok is at or above 21%

If you get a non-crit, you bump your crit rate up by 1 and repeat. It wouldn't take that long, especially if you have a second account. Thanks for posting anyway, now I know who to cite!

    Ok thanks^^

So the "Increases critical hit rate IV" from Ragnarok90 is the same as the 1st one from Ragnarok75 ? o.O
