What wses break the horns? Anyone know for sure?
The horns must not actually be on his "head" because Concussive Blow II doesn't hit them. I don't get it~ D:
As I just mentioned, Concussive Blow II does not hit Ifrit's horns, so it's not that simple.
Buffalo's horn are Other (left) and Other (right).
Incaps:
Left - Simian Thrash (PGL only counter), Brutal Swing II, Twisting Vice
Right - Spinstroke II (only cross-class available), Victimize II, Bloodletter
Perhaps that's how you do it. We don't even bother since we take it out in 7-8mins with 5 LNC setup.

Bah, I had tried Victimize II, but I thought it was left-side. Oops~
they changed a few things since the lodestone incap table.
I know for sure that Twisting vice and Brutal swing II are easy and effective ways to take out the left horn. Can take it out with those in a solid 30 seconds.
As far as the right goes... probably using spinstroke II and victimize are the easiest.
I just recently noticed there is an achievement for defeating Ifrit "in short order", presumably by killing him within a certain amount of time. Can anyone shed some specifics on this?
We tried a lot, Twisting Vice and Brutal Swing II for left, Spinstroke and Puncture for right. I'm sure there are a few others as well, but that is what we used since we had LNC.
P.S. I hate you GreyFucking Phase 5 Eruptions and Plumes own us everytime.

Just gotta be aware to avoid Eruption and hold back TP until Ifrit uses anything but Eruption before firing. Plumes are non-issue in Phase 5 if you're positioned properly. Misses you every time if tanked in the right spot and no one ever has to move.
Where is this place to stand where plumes are non-issue in relation to where you enter? We usually do it in the position they use in the BG video.
Edit: Also, what are the abilities that are on the 15s and 10s @P5 timer? He seems to use Vulcan Buster and Incinerate sometimes when it hasn't been 15/10@P5 secs. Is it just Plumes, Eruption, and Jump that are on the timers?

As far as I can remember he will always use incinerate or vulcan after eruption, never plumes. That's the biggest hint that there are safe spots. I'm tired now and can't recall any other patterns atm.
Pretty sure we've had Eruption > Plumes before (though maybe he did a WS in between that I missed). If your tank keeps Ifrit in a similar spot after each charge, the plumes will always spawn in the same position. At this point, I have plume safe points somewhat memorized.
Also, any notice in P5 Eruption spawning on 3 different people? Last few rounds each mage (CNJ CNJ THM) had a set of 3 eruptions on them each. It was fucking weird, but those eruptions are hard to avoid for everyone.

It may be an Ifrit glitch, actually. Because, we had that happen at least once or twice with x3 Eruptions when it's only supposed to be x2. We also had another fight were Ifrit did ONLY Eruptions for like a solid 1:30. He only reset and jumped after only one person was left standing. It was ridiculous.
It should be 2/6 in phase 5. 3/9 is an anomaly.
When you observed Eruption -> Plume, it was probably, like you guessed, Eruption -> Swipe/Incinerate -> Plume.
Right now our new goal is to try to get all of our LNCs who have a Harpoon together and kill Ifrit in 4 minutes or less. Might also try it with 6 LNCs just to see if it works.
