EVO2012 announcements to come today on a special SRK show with Mr. Wizard at 7 PM PST (10 PM EST).
Announcements to include main games for EVO, dates (if revised), the EVO tournament season itself, and a ton of other stuff.
I wouldn't put it past em. V is looking more legit than IV ever was.
The stream will be embedded on: Keits Stream/Wakeup SRK Live
Main (if 5 games):
1. SF 4 AE 2012
2. SF x Tekken
3. Soul Calibur 5 replaces Tekken 6
4. Ultimate MvC3
5. I want to say Skullgirls (only to support community members who developed it), but I could see KOF13 in this spot as well. If they go 6 main games, both.
I don't see Tekken 6 (should have been eliminated a long, long time ago) or Blazblue making it.
Maybe its too early, but I can easily see a Sunday (8 players only) tournament of MvC2 legends. Sort of like the 3rd Strike exhibition from last year. Maybe its too early, but if not in 2012, 2013 for sure.
Depends on if CS Extend manages to build/keep any hype. CS2 finals were epic last year and Arc/Aksys are typically willing to pour in bonus pot money, but it definitely won't beat out KOFXIII if they're in competition for a slot.
I'm hyped for Skullgirls but I don't think it'll have a big enough roster to be more than a side tourney by July.
Edit: I really don't see SFxTK getting in main 5...
Cali, you are smarter than that.
SF x Tekken:
1. 2 Largest and most well-known fighting games combined into 1 game
2. SF4 graphics engine (which everyone but me seems to like)
3. If they decide not have it at EVO, and the game turns out to be amazing, they are screwing themselves royally.
4. If they decide to have it at EVO, and the game turns out the be awful, they can blame it on Capcom and either get a VER2 made, or they can just say it will not be back next year.
5. Insane cast lineup.
100% its at EVO.
Eh that's all true but the last 3 months has just had every competitive player bitching about a game that doesn't even have a playable demo yet. I think the game will sell a bajillion copies but it doesn't seem to have tourney hype.
I'm hype for Skullgirls as well, but I know full well KOF13 is taking it. There also might be talk of extending EVO to 4 days, which would accommodate a ton more shit.
Related: who is actually planning on going? g/f said if the cash is there in june I get to go, but not sure if I'll be just spectating or actually enter...
They have done every possible thing imaginable to input a "comeback" factor in the game...which is THE major factor that drives hype on streams.
Capcom is the biggest supporter/supportee of EVO. No chance in hell they bring 5 SFxTekken setups to EVO2011 and not get in the main events the next season; in comparison, Namco had 1 Soul Cal setup and 2 TTT2 setups. KOF13 had like some 1990's TVs and floor seating for their setup; do you really think they would possibly get in over SFxTekken (which will win fighting game of the year in EVERY contest its entered in based on casual fans alone)?
I'll be at EVO again no doubt about it.
I'll be going/competing with a few friends of mine :3
You guys got to come to our room this year, no doubt. Conformity and I will host a BG room with free liquor and sticks to use.
I'm going for sure. Gotta rep that BG.
