So I loved GTA 3 and Vice City back in the day. Never played San Andreas or IV. Is it worth it to go back and do them or should I just hop back on the franchise when V comes out?

I liked San Andreas and 4 had its moments, but like I posted above, they could have done without the dating sim shit in 4.

San Andreas is considered the best in the series, but GTAIV does have the most satisfying physics/controls, for obvious reasons.

San Andreas had the most to do, and taking the military fighter jet and dog fighting was some of the most fun I had in that game, next to the impossible mountain climb get away that we came up with.

Highly recommend if you can tune your eyes to remember what its like to play games where you can see jaggles all over the screen again.

I also liked the RPG elements of San Andreas. You'd rank up on diff types of guns the more often you used them, driving, motor cycling, bicycling, etc. Lung capacity would go up the more often you swam. Could get fat/skinny/buff by going to the gym and actually had to continue to go to maintain good physique. Huge area to play in. Wasn't the best story nor my favorite protagonist, but was a very solid game, in terms of game play.

I did some investigation as to when the trailer will be dropping on the various "news" sites. As of right now, Rockstar will be delivering the video at 8am Pacific / 11am Eastern on Wednesday and then it will take ~30min for the various sites to add their logos to the video.

Grand Theft Auto V will introduce a musical score for missions inspired by previous Rockstar titles Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3.

Studio co-founder Dan Houser told The Guardian that despite the introduction of an in-game score, the series' traditional radio stations will remain.

"We thought [we] could do something interesting if we scored missions in GTA," explained Houser. "Obviously we didn't want to lose radio stations, so we thought we'd do both.

"Exactly how we're going to balance between the two we're not entirely sure yet - we're still trying to figure that out. But we have some very cool people doing the score, different people, who will work in the same stem-based system that we used in the other games".

Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar and co-writer of Grand Theft Auto 5, has said the immense size of Los Santos was necessary to accommodate flying.

Last week Houser was quoted as saying that GTA 5's world is bigger than Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas and GTA 4 combined.

Now Houser has told The Guardian that players will be doing a lot of flying in GTA 5 so it was important to the studio that there's plenty of airspace.

"We wanted to make a big place, as much as anything, to allow you to fly," he said. "A lot of the decisions, we're talking about them here on a philosophical level, but they're also practical decisions, too: we're making a game. You have to understand the medium.

"On an obvious level we wanted somewhere big so you can fly properly - we have a lot of missions that involve flying, in helicopters or whatever, it was logical. Also, Jet skis work better around LA than they would in New York.

"We're using the environment to let us have toys we couldn't have had otherwise," Houser added. "And equally, we're using the story and environment to introduce missions that can be more extreme. In some ways we wanted the game to have a larger-than-life Hollywood feel; the stories we heard in LA, we wanted to capture them in the game. If the place isn't informing what we're doing, we're not using it correctly."

Rockstar boss and GTA co-writer Dan Houser said the idea to include three main protagonists in Grand Theft Auto 5 came from the interweaving plots of GTA 4's 'Episodes from Liberty City' expansions.

GTA 4 followed the story of European immigrant Niko Bellic, who crossed paths with characters who would take their own starring roles in follow-up expansions, 'The Lost and Damned' and 'The Ballad of Gay Tony'.

This, explained Houser, resonated well within Rockstar. "It was partly just to do something totally new," he said told The Guardian, adding, "Partly, too, it was because at that point we were deep into the work on the two DLC episodes of GTA IV, and we thought, well, the bits where all the stories crossover is kind of cool, so why don't we just do that in one game? So okay, let's just do multiple characters."

Yup, CVG did manage to produce 3 different articles from one interview.

Narrative seems lighthearted and spectacular compared to IV. Looks magnificent. Have they mentioned what time period?

Someone mentioned this Michael could very well be Tommy Vercetti since witness protection programs often change names. Would be one hell of a surprise.

Doubtful, Tommy was 35 in Vice City, and I think five takes place in current times which would mean he is 62.

There've also made a point of saying that this generation's GTA is not in the same universe as last generation's. I wouldn't be surprised if they made a nod to it, though.

I really hate when that's how they approach and explain things to an audience, the use of the word universe in a series of games that take place building off one game (3, VC, SA) and then a future title returning to the same location but saying that because its in a different universe none of the events shown in SA will be present in the new release. It just bugs the shit out of me like.. okay so care to explain this multi-verse theory of yours? Lol such a lazy cheap way to get around things..

I don't think they actually consider it a multiverse. It's another way of saying they rebooted the franchise with the new generation of consoles. It's not like they tried to explain what happened to Poison Ivy when Bane showed up in the newest Batman movie.

That's one of the main reasons I'm looking forward to this. Overall 3, VC and SA were light hearted games. IV was just a dark and depressing game. It was still a great game but most of the attempts at humor (ie: Brucie) fell flat.
