    Hunger Games fans can own a piece of the magic, if they can afford it. THR reports that the entire 72-acre town used as Katniss' District 12 village is up for sale for $1.4 million! Lionsgate used Henry River Mill Village, which is about 70 miles outside of Asheville, N.C., to film the mega-popular film. The reason the town looks run down, is because it truly is. In 1977 the mill burned down, leaving 20 buildings intact.

    83-year old owner Wade Shepherd has been getting too many visitors, so he decided to sell the property. Since the film was released many fans have been interested in visiting the various set locations. The North Carolina Division of Tourism has wisely cashed in and is offering a four-day tour of the various filming locations in NC.

    Didn't really like it that much. It was fine before the arena. Actors were picked out well and did their job. But once it got to the arena it was boring as fuck. And what is with all the shaky cam? Couldn't see any of the action. This isn't cloverfield.

    I thought it was good, but I didn't like the acting. I also don't think they made enough of an emotional connection to the characters. I do like that even the conversations followed the dialog in the book though.

    Just saw this today. Was also thinking it was a Battle Royale wannabe, but was pleasantly surprised. Similar premises, but definitely managed to distance itself at the same time. Though I agree the first half, before the arena, was the best (by a LOT). And the shakycam was annoying at times. I think Jennifer Lawrence (whom I've found unbelievably annoying in everything I've seen her in before) was really awesome.

    Mags was the female tribute from District 4 during the 75th Hunger Games, for which she volunteered, as well as a previous, unspecified Hunger Games, most likely the 7th-14th Hunger Games.

    Being a previous victor and a mentor for the tributes of District 4,Finnick Odair and Annie Cresta, Mags, an eighty year old woman, loyally volunteered for the 75th Hunger Games in the place of Annie, becoming a tribute alongside Finnick. She stutters every time she talks, and Katniss believes it is because of a possible stroke she may have had in the past. While in training for the third Quarter Quell, Katniss Everdeen watched as Mags displayed her skill of being able to make fishhooks out of nearly anything. This skill, plus the fact that she volunteered to take Annie Cresta's place, made Katniss want Mags to be one of her allies in the arena.
    Synopsis of the second film;

    THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

    After months of high-intensity buzz, casting on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is finally nearing an end. One of the last remaining roles has just been filled by Sons of Anarchy actor Patrick St. Esprit, who’ll play District 12 Peacekeeper Romulus Thread. St. Esprit joins an impressive class of franchise newcomers that also includes Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amanda Plummer, Jena Malone, Sam Claflin, Tony Shaloub, and Lynn Cohen. Read more after the jump.

    Despite his innocent-sounding title, Thread is actually a fairly vicious character. He’s sent by the Capitol to District 12 in order to enforce Panem’s law through any means necessary, and he doles out harsh punishments with glee. The plot of Catching Fire deals with the fallout of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta’s (Josh Hutcherson) Hunger Games win from the first movie. As the pair travel around Panem’s districts, they realize that a rebellion against the Capitol is picking up steam.

    St. Esprit has worked primarily in television after the past few decades, appearing on The Shield, Saving Grace, and The Chicago Code. His movie roles include United 93, Green Zone, and Super 8.

    At this point, most of the key new characters in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire have been cast. The only significant supporting part I can think of offhand that remains open is Enobaria, a vicious former winner from District 2. Most of the leads of the first movie are set to reprise their roles, including Lawrence, Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, and Lenny Kravitz. Catching Fire is scheduled to shoot this fall with director Francis Lawrence at the helm, for a November 22, 2013 release.

    Lionsgate and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE are pleased to announce that Sam Claflin has been cast in the role of Finnick in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. Charasmatic and clever, Finnick was a District 4 Hunger Games victor when he was fourteen.

    After breaking out in his role as the romantic lead in last year’s PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES, Claflin starred in the box office smash SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN playing Prince William alongside Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth. He recently finished filming THE QUIET ONES opposite Jarred Harris, and MARY & MARTHA, in which he co-stars with Hilary Swank.

    THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE will be directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has sold more than 50 million books in print and digital in the U.S. alone.

    Lionsgate will release THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE on November 22, 2013.

    Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE are pleased to announce that Jeffrey Wright has been cast in the role of Beetee in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. Hailing from District 3, Beetee earns the nickname “Volts” because of his electronics expertise.

    Critically acclaimed and known to theater, film and television audiences alike, Wright garnered a Tony® Award in 1994 for his work in Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize-winning epic “Angels in America” and reprised his “Angels” role in HBO’s 2003 mini-series adaptation of the play, earning both a Golden Globe® and an Emmy® for his groundbreaking performance. Since then he has played memorable roles in films as diverse as BASQUIAT, SOURCE CODE, CASINO ROYALE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE, W, SYRIANA, and CADDLIAC RECORDS. Wright can next be seen with Mark Walhberg, Russell Crowe and Catherine Zeta-Jones in Allen Hughes’ political thriller BROKEN CITY.

    THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE will be directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has sold more than 50 million books in print and digital in the U.S. alone.

    Just saw the first today (finally). I thought it was pretty good, though I havent read the books yet (plan to start the first this weekend). Going into it, I kinda knew the gist of what would happen, but didnt expect the arena portion to end in the first movie. It felt forced to finish, which kinda sucked. I also didnt like how it was "last one standing battle royale" but the organizers could fuck with shit (the fire, the dog/demon things).

    All in all, I enjoyed it a lot though, and look forward to the next.

    Watched it this week on netflix. Didn't care for it. But I will agree that before the arena it was more enjoyable. I just can't shake the feeling that the only reason that this film got so much hype is because the the gender reversal. The stronger female lead, and cunt boy of a co-lead, he was freaking useless 99% of the time and only useful thing he did was in a flash back, baking bread. That and he was actually good at getting the publicity. Also as was said before, the arena felt extreamly rushed. It lasted what 2 or 3 days at most, hell it felt like 1/2 of them where slaughtered at the cornucopia.

    Really wanted to post a /d/ picture of cunt boy but not gonna run the risk >.>;

    It lasted about a week, if not longer. When Katniss was passed out after the hornet, the little girl said she had been out a few days. Not every time the characters woke up, or it went from night to day was it just one day.

    You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

    Keep in mind the books were insanely popular before the movie came out. So that is also a major reason. (food for thought anyway)
