This is entirely possible, but packet stuff is tricky, since technically it's a lot more "detectable" than anything else. Something as high profile as spellcast would require us to change the way our packets are formatted before we converted it to be packet based so that I felt more comfortable sending that many packets that often.
There's not a lot preventing us from doing it and just releasing it as "use at your own risk" though, I guess.
I've been wanting to use IME plugin, which seems broken to me before I left FFXI in 2009. Do windower dev consider them to be broken atm or did I miss something other than loading the ime, set the language setting to Japanese? I can't toggle from alphabet to kana.
So, I tried out GC for the first time...it skimped out on swapping some of my gear for some reason:
It ignored my augmented Haidate and Anwig Salade for some reason, but it moved everything else.
And how do I make it move weapons, since I dont have in spellcast. Is there a way to global things for certain jobs?
Just add a weapons set and place that at the top of the list.
GOD THIS IS COOL
caps for emphasis
If it is anything like many other programs, you'll need to use the abbreviated version of the gear name also. In addition go weapons, if you have any gear in your rules or variables that isn't part of a set, probably have the same thing happen but I've not gotten a chance to confirm that yet.
As a side note, I vote yes for the GC plugin being set up for us to be ornery about our gear ^^;
Does the pause duration bug still exist in the latest hook?
I basically did what Yugl said, make a random set with all that stuff, it doesnt even have to be given proper slots, unless I can equip Antlion Quivers lol. Anything in rules and variables wont transfer either as you thought, so throw those in too.
I found out why some of my other gear wasnt moving...derp settings file.
With plugins like GearCollector now able to really take control fully and manipulate your inventory, how farm out of the realm of possibilities would it be to get a plugin which sets your blue magic for you? So I could have an xml file with several set ups of spell lists I like, and hitting a quick macro equips them all for me? I mean is that possible nowadays?
Thirding this for emphasis. With plugins like GearCollector now able to really take control fully and manipulate your inventory, how farm out of the realm of possibilities would it be to get a plugin which sets your blue magic for you? You guys should use FFOChat. There are some rly cool people on there, and you can tell me when you want to do Einherjar.
GearCollector just puts items in places randomly? Pass.
GC looked cool at first.. but meh.
If I was able to use it soley to bypass slow ass keyboard commands, that would be better.
It just seems it needs some work to make it "functional" for the XI player who actually cares about their gear sets.
The way I have my gear set up..
Since BLM is my main, I 90% of the time always have it in my Inventory.
My satchel keeps random blm stuff I dont use all the time (obis, etc), and other job misc stuff including weapons.
My sack is random junk I pick up from fights, new gear I havent sorted, crystals, etcetc.
My storage I use for event items, or items I no longer use, but dont want to throw away, so I never need to use my safe when I gear swap.
My safe I use for jobs that are still 75 or under, and MH stuff, I rarely access this either.
My locker on the other hand keeps stuff on my other two jobs, which are BST and PLD. Since BST and PLD share alot of my dd gear, and I only have a few sets for each job, I have just a little under 80 pieces here for both jobs to share, with their weapons/jugs in my satchel as stated.
When I switch to BST or PLD, either or, I completly swap my inventory which has BLM stuff to my locker, and all my locker contents go to my inventory. And depending on what jug/weapon/sheild I need, I get that from my satchel. When I switch back to my BLM I put the weapons back in to the satchel, and again swap my inventory and locker contents completly.
So since I have it set up this way, it only takes me a couple of minutes to switch to one of my three jobs.
If this plugin could somehow be set up to just to swap the two..
Though as I write this.. wouldnt it be possible just to mark storage options false aside from locker?
I guess this random placement dilemma only is a problem if you use two different storage places for you gear then, correct?
Nvm then~ Guess i'll give this plugin a shot first, and then complain about it after.
Search for "Simple Blue" from Masao, very simple 3rd app and by far fastest (for simulating up-down + enter).
All configuration you will have to do is:
- 1 SpellList xml file with all yur current spells in exact same order
- 1 xml for each spell "set" you want, for example "Breath.xml" "Nukes.xml" "Default.xml" "Solo.xml", etc...
It's a 3rd app tough, not a plugin, ie you still have clik on it from yur desktop and choose which "spell set" you want to load, pretty much like old GearCollector and Exiled, but much much faster.
I too do not want to use the Gear Collector plug-in, due to how it scatters your gear. My sets are divided specifically, and non-gear items, like Abyssea pops and perishables, have their place. I wouldn't want that all to get mixed up.
My Linkshell mates agree. They won't use it either. I'm not sure how many others feel this way, but it's a "make or break" feature to me.
That aside, however, I am very grateful for the plug-in's existence, even though I do not use it. It offers a wonderful convenience.
