I was testing magic burst damage gear with Fiv and we accidently stumbled across data that suggests that Mujin Band breaks the standard 40% MB Bonus gear cap.
Fiv was on BLM vs Blanched Mandragoras in Ceizak. INT was high to cap dINT for Fire 1 (109+181INT).
Fire 175 base when capped
261 magic dmg on gear + 1 gift
325 total MAB (4.25 multiplier for MAB portion of equation)
MAB info:
Spoiler: show
Fiv has 13% MBBonus from trait, 9% from JP and 5% from gifts (total 27%). These all seem to be added to the trait which allows one to surpass the known MBBonus gear cap of 40%. Reference: https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Magic_Dam...ic_Burst_Bonus
Fire 1 does 1853 damage in the MB gear when not MBing.
(175 + 261) * 4.25 = 1853
MB Tests suggest that the Mandragoras have a 2.85 multiplier for fire MBs (weakness).
No rings (36% MBBonus gear), Fire 1 MB'd: 8602
[436 * 2.85] = 1242
1242 * (1.36 + 0.27) = 2024
2024 * 4.25 = 8602
1 ring (locus, 41% MBBonus gear), Fire 1 MB'd: 8814
[436 * 2.85] = 1242
1242 * (1.4 + 0.27) = 2074
2074 * 4.25 = 8814
The math only works with 40% MB bonus used in the above equation which suggests the cap still exists.
2 rings (locus+mujin, 46% MBBonus gear): 9078
[436 * 2.85] = 1242
1242 * (1.45 + 0.27) = 2136
2136 * 4.25 = 9078
Higher damage with both rings suggests an issue. However, 46% does not work for the above equation. 45% does work and suggests a cap of 40%, but something went past it.
Redoing the 1 ring test with Mujin band instead of Locus added more damage.
1 ring (mujin, 41% MBBonus gear): 8865
[436 * 2.85] = 1242
1242 * (1.41 + 0.27) = 2086
2086 * 4.25 = 8865
So, it would appear that Mujin band does not count toward the gear cap for MBBonus.
