Happy Holidays, adventurers! 2011 is wrapping up quite nicely, with a lot of things to be excited about. First, if you haven't heard about this cool bit of news yet, PlayStation's Kevin Butler recently honored Okeneko and Siloeyes–two newlywed players who found a romance for the ages in Vana'diel–with a touching video toast! If any of you have similar stories of being hit by Cupid's Sidewinder, post them on the forums as we would love to hear more heartwarming tales of Vana'dielian lovers.

Now, on to the goodies that have been implemented! I don't know how many times you all watched the new weapon skill video when it debuted, but I, for one, couldn't take my eyes off the sheer epicness of it all. These weapon skills showcase some truly spectacular animations, with unique moves for each race providing some serious flair (somersaulting Mithras anyone?). While it's possible to unlock all of them via merits, if you plan on fully upgrading them to their maximum levels, you'll need to be a bit selective. Which weapon skills will prove to be your favorites? Those with numerous jobs face some potentially tough choices, but fortunately there's always room to go back and explore other options later.

As for the user interface, the development team started with minor tweaks at first, such as improving font and icon resolution, but now they've moved on to long-awaited chat widget and macro palette revamps. In his latest post on the forums, Producer Hiromichi Tanaka also mentioned that they were moving forward with discussions about a total UI revamp, which is something all fans (including myself!) can get behind.

There's a lot in store for 2012, a year that will mark the FINAL FANTASY series' twenty-fifth anniversary as well as the tenth anniversary of FINAL FANTASY XI. Stay tuned for more details on all the new game content and exciting features we have planned, all of which promise to make 2012 a year to remember! A little disappointed about the wedding toast. My good buddy met the love of his life in FFXI and they have been married for years now. And they both still play seriously unlike that level 70 Siloeyes.

Yeah, that wedding toast is a bit silly because it's not like it is that uncommon or that they were the first. I remember there being a similar article in a newspaper not so long back claiming it was the first marriage because of an MMO which made me laugh.

Christ, there's three serious long-term couples in my LS who met via FFXI. Two are now married, the third aren't married but have been together longer and now have two children. Plus two of those couples were with people from different countries (England + USA, England + Austria).

And on a less serious note, me and my wife are totally more notable since I play a female character and she plays a male char >_>

Sony was taking submissions for stories for the little ad campaign, though. The others weren't exactly firsts, either.

They need a separate crew to handle the UI rewrite. The update we got was laughably low on content, last thing we need is even less for the next one because of the time spent rewriting that with their skeleton crew.


At any rate, if the rewrite doesn't break away from "PS2limitations" and give us information we want (re: Everything Windower users have already), well.......

I think it'd be pretty cool to see some BCs featuring characters from other games in the series for the 25th Anniversary.
I doubt it would ever happen though.

Gilgamesh, that guy loves hopping around from dimension to dimension. There is only one "bridge" in the game that I can think of that could have a BC, the airships in Sealion's Den.

I have heard (it may just be Theory-craft) that every Gilgamesh (besides the ones in FFIX and FFXI) is the same guy. (Originally from FFV.) The story goes that when he wound up in the rift in FFV, he was able to go into the different dimensions in the FF universe. So looking at it like this, if there was a fight with someone outside of FFXI, Gilgamesh would be the go-to guy.

They could have tacked on a big bridge to the WoE zone if they wanted, seems to be the appropriate place for such an encounter with a being that doesn't belong in your time or space. But since they're not likely to ninja edit the zone, our last hope would be the Last Stand.

Though, flux 15 of Gwynplaine's map could resemble a big bridge with a BC area in the middle, if it were a little more straight.
