Saga is on issue 4 and a fun sci-fi read. It's mature reading but I think it's great. Ultimates is new-ish, they are on the 12th issue. It's set in the ultimate universe and Hickman's vision of these Avengers is fantastic. Batman Incorporated is on the 2nd issue but I love anything by Morrison. Plus, you might need to read some other collected Batman stories to get a feel for what's going on.
probably shouldve included it in original post but who do you order your comics thru
Also another merchandising thing Marvel is doing called All Winners Squad (nothing to do with the old school All Winners Squad either)
Spoiler: show
Holy guacamole, so This is War is the Punisher VS everyone?
Maybe Wonder-Man decided to recruit Punisher for his war on the Avengers.
Ugh, I still hate that Bendis basically went, Let's make Wonder-man a bad guy now!
I kept forgetting to reply to this
Image has released a lot of new series over the past few months, with most being on issues 2 or 4. Saga, Secret, Peter Panzerfaust, etc. They aren't superhero books, but they are good reads.
Top Cow "rebooted" their universe. Everything that happened before still happened, just no one remembers it. As such, you can start reading Witchblade and The Darkness without feeling the need to go back.
American Vampire I'm behind on, but apparently the newest issue(which came out last week) is a good jumping on point
DC New 52 has like 9 or 10 issues out so far? A lot of the bigger titles have had the first 6-7 issues printed in a collection already. Since no one knows if anything that happened pre-New 52 actually occured, you don't need to know any of that stuff. A
Marvel is a bit rougher. They are better at their continuity that DC, so most of that stuff you need to follow. TPB are the way to go for most Marvel stuff imo. It's cheaper than individual issues and for events, you get the whole story(sans tie-ins that are extraneous). For example, I just got the Avengers: Disassembled hardcover off ebay for like $7.
Now if I could only find a House of M hardcover on the cheap
oh, if you don't mind digital, check out comixology. They have sales all the time. Every Monday is a different Marvel sale where individual issues are .99 cents. Some times they have collections cheap too. Like last week they had the first 2 arcs of Uncanny X-Force for 4.99 or something.
Boosh! She's back! Cyclops is gonna be all sad when she hooks up with Wolverine.
Familiar face will be gracing the pages of Batman come October
Spoiler: show
I've really liked Snyder's run on Batman, so hoping this is good.
OH GOD JEAN. DO IT, JEANIE. XORN
Roberson, Monkeybrain Publish Creator-Owned Comics Through comiXology
During today's Monkeybrain Comics press call, comic book writer and Monkeybrain Co-Publisher Chris Roberson spoke to CBR News and reporters about his plans to expand his publishing company, Monkeybrain Books, into publishing digital creator-owned comics exclusively through comiXology.
The call kicked off with Roberson explaining that Monkeybrain Comics is an imprint of his existing Monkeybrain Books publishing company, toting a brand new line of creator-owned comics, the initial launch titles of which will appear on comiXology on July 4. Roberson, who left DC Comics over the issue of creators’ rights, said that he had spent the past two years trying to figure out how to publish directly to the digital market before coming to a deal with comiXology.
My girlfriend and I have been working on ideas for our own comics for a year or two now and this just gives us more incentive to get off our collective ass and do it.
This webcomic is worth checking out for DC fans:

It's the Justice League as kids and is done in a Sunday comics format. It's pretty spiffy.
