Assassin's Creed III

Officially my most anticipated title of 2012

During an earnings call today, Ubisoft revealed that Assassin's Creed III will be released in October.

According to CEO Yves Guillemot, the game will hit stores on October 30th. Guillemot revealed that the game has been in development for three years and that "what we have seen is just fabulous."

Previously, Ubisoft teased that a major Assassin's Creed title would come this year, but this is the first outright confirmation that it's AC III. The game is said to complete the story of Desmond.

While no platforms have been announced, recent Assassin's Creed games have hit Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The game is likely headed to Wii U as well, since an Assassin's Creed game was announced for Nintendo's new system during E3.

Long as it doesn't have the god-awful tower defense revelations does, i'm completely stoked. AC2 was one of my favorite games of the past 10 years or so.

Hope they mix things up a bit. I got a little burnt out in Brotherhood, and I still have Revelations sitting here unopened.

Granted, I don't know what they could even do with the game to make it feel fresh while still maintaining the same core mechanics.

I'm hoping this is on some levels as big a jump as going from 1 to 2 was -- since Brotherhood and Revelations were just building on 2. I know it won't be, but I can hope..

Nah. Revelations was pretty much to complete Altair's and I think Ezio's story. They'll probably be in III but maybe (hopefully) as flashback sequences so they can finish Desmond's story.

Assassin's Creed is on that Kingdom Hearts shit.

Liked AC1 at the time, can't go back and play it now after the others have come out. Loved AC2 and Brotherhood. Revelations was ehhhhhhh (especially tower defense what a terrible "feature"), AC3 is going to have to bring its A game to get me back to enjoying the series.

That said my experience with Revelations wasn't so bad considering I bought it brand new from Wal-Mart on launch day for $39.99 thanks to their screw up, and traded it back to Gamestop in the same week for $40 towards the Mass Effect 3 CE.

I've been keeping up with some of the dev's comments over the past couple of years, and it felt like III was planned to be a complete departure from Ezio and Altair, which the ending of Revelations essentially confirmed. Revelations seemed like a filler to give them more time to work on III... it's been suggested several times that the setting will be Ancient Egypt, which would be the fucking balls. I'd honestly be suprised if they finish Desmond's story though despite what that article said. Past interviews have read like his story will be similar to the "LOST" plotline, where the destination is nowhere near as important as how they get you there to the writers, and that they were planning on stretching the series out for years to come. Whatever the case may be, can't wait!

China is also very likely - but probably in AC4 or the like. It would seem strange I'd they suddenly threw out an Asian ancestor for Desmond.

I'm guessing AC3 will complete Desmond's story, which focused on Italy and the Mediterranean. Next one will probably be Asia, or more specifically China,
