Out there on the internet, someone has posted images and a somewhat tough-to-read translation of an article about SimCity 5 from German magazine GameStar. Making the reading even more difficult? The translation was first from German to a Spanish website…and then Google-translated from Spanish to English. So…yeah.
The game is being developed by Maxis, and if the post is to be believed, the game is on course to be released sometime in 2013, apparently only about 30 percent of the way to completion at this point.
The images, too, aren’t from the game, but are rather concept art stills, since “the current video quality does not meet the requirements of internal—and there is open play as full a level of development. The graphics are polished only towards the end of a high quality development.”
Got all that? I think it’s saying that the graphics won’t be finished up until after most of the game is done…right?
Apparently there will be an online competitive component to the game, too, where your city will be able to compete against other players’ online to see which is the most “successful,” at least in terms of productivity and, I guess, lack of crime and monster attacks. “There’s global leaderboards, where everything relates to economic production or raw material players can compete with other players,” producer Kip Katsarelis is quoted as saying. They’d better still have Godzillas is all I care about.
