Sad, most fans of WWE probably never even knew he could really go in the ring.
Today is the worst day in sports entertainment history. Godspeed Ricardo.
RIP El Local, we hardly knew ye.
So WWE cancels WWE Classics on demand only to bring it back to Canada on TV as the WWE Network. I don't get it. I don't know if I want to opt in and get it again.
WWE Network will remain at $9.99/month with a 6 month commitment. WWE will soon be offering an option to get the network for $19.99 monthly with no commitment, which I think is a great way to get some new people on board who were maybe hesitant to invest 6 months into it. WWE Network membership is around 700,000 members in the U.S., and they expect to hit over 1 million when it rolls out internationally in the latter part of the year. SummerSlam and Night of Champions are gonna have to be freaking amazing to keep those subs.
Also from the earnings report meeting, the following buyrates for PPV were released today.
-WrestleMania 30 drew 690,000 buys, down from 1,039,000 last year
-Extreme Rules drew 108,000 buys, down from 231,000 last year
-Payback drew 67,000 buys, down from 186,000 last year
-Money In the Bank did 122,000 buys, down from 199,000 last year
Keep in mind these numbers are drastically reduced because of subscribers to the WWE Network, and also the fact that DirecTV completely dropped WWE PPVs once the network launched.
Poor Payback...it was a great show that nobody saw!
I believe it was stated that network numbers made up for the PPV numbers going down, and total views was higher across the board.
Also if for some reason you haven't seen Wrestlemania 30 yet, it's showing on NBC this Sunday.
I remember reading that article recently as well that they've already reached the threshold to cover the loss of PPV buys?
Yes, and since they also said they'll be cutting jobs (note : not wrestlers, office/backstage people) this time next year the point assumed to be profitable is only 500k
Poor Cesaro.
A Cesaro vs Ziggler match should be a reason to rejoice. Instead we get no intros (a good thing in Cesaro's case though) and glorified squash for Ziggler.
Wut.
rybaxel vs. dust brothers for the 100th time!
Heath Slater is main eventing Raw. No words.
I would actually be pumped if he received a strong mid card push.
I was happy that Slater won until they said Hogan bday celebration next week... wtf
Raw closing the second week in a row with Diva pushing. Terribad. -.-
Lol gotta love the cm punk chants.
That said, both the Bella twins sold those Pedigrees like fucking champs.
Within the last month we've watched Zack Ryder win a match, Jamie Noble chants close out Raw, and now Heath Fucking Slater winning the main event on Raw. This company is going places. And those places only cost 9.99 a month apparently.
Also,
Something about Stephanie doing pedigrees is kinda hot..
