Now everyone on BG thinks they're smart.
Now everyone on BG thinks they're smart.
A.D.D is real? loll but fuck it dont mean crap if you talk to yourself; its a good way to study... and everyone does it.
Saying things helps you retain info(be it to yourself or others), I tend to talk to myself when planing shit out.
Recently while reading (tough scholarly books/articles, not light pleasure reading), I've actually been reading out loud. I don't know why I've taken to doing it since I've always been a pretty speedy reader no matter the difficulty level, and reading aloud actually slows me down quite a bit, but it probably helps with information retention somehow.
I talk to myself all the time, whether I'm alone or if my bf is in the room with me. Stuff like "Do I think I should do this? Yeah, I guess I do..." etc etc, I don't really see how people who talk out their thought processes are smarter than others, HOWEVER I think there is a huge difference between doing that and ranting your brain out to whoever will listen like crazy street bums do.
I will concede that when im solving math equations, talking to myself helps me stay focused on figuring it out.
Only other time I talk to myself is when im bored as shit at work and im working alone.
Something about when doing a task that almost exclusively uses one side of your brain, once you say it out loud, you force it to go through your creative side by saying/hearing it, and you think about the problem in a way you wouldn't have if you had just been thinking in exclusively. I have no idea where I read this, but I did read it somewhere, and I'm pretty sure it was derived from studies related to left and right brain functions of people who had their corpus callosum severed to reduce seizures.
I talk to myself aloud and in my head often. I don't think there's honestly anything wrong with it unless you're hanging out with someone-- in which case, you're more likely to have a more interesting conversation. Lol.
Honestly, anyone who says they don't -at least- talk to themselves in their heads, are liars. It's as simple as thinking "Did I just do that?"
Also.. Simply because this study had positive results for people who were talking aloud to themselves doesn't mean that people who do that are automatically more intelligent. The only conclusion you can really make from the study is that saying the object/name of the thing you're looking for aloud helps your focus in your efforts. This happens already in lots of other things-- like sports. IE. People shouting "DEFENSE" over and over during a football game. I'm betting that if they repeated the test and had an audible recording repeating the name of the object they were supposed to find over and over, the results would be similar.
I give myself blow jobs while talking, I.Q. 500+ and BBC fuck yeah. afk waking up.
Bugrit! Millennium Hand and Shrimp
I talk to, answer, and maintain relations with myself.
So I'm beginning to realize that there are some crazy motherfuckers on these boards.
I love talking to myself. I do it nearly every day while jogging. If I jog during the day, I vent to myself about my problems and family, if I jog during the night I talk to myself about the stars, space, the universe, and various other things.
And I reply to myself all the time. I'll ask questions to myself and then answer them or have full conversations.
As far as increased intelligence, I don't know if I buy that, but I drive home late at night and after working long hours, so I often talk to myself to stay awake. I also live alone so I'll talk to myself just to break up the monotony.
Sometimes, voicing things that I want to get done makes me more likely to do them. Like if I'm thinking, "I have to call my dad today," I'll rarely do it, but if I actually say, "Hrm, I should call dad," it'll somehow remain in the forefront of my mind until I do it. I guess that somewhat corresponds with what the study was saying. Sometimes I just like to hear myself talk, and I know no one else really does, so I just talk to myself. :/
I have full blown conversations with myself when im alone, but otherwise no i don't talk to myself.
Good, because that's something bg just made up.As far as increased intelligence, I don't know if I buy that,
I spoke to myself before it was cool. /hipster
