The way I read it, it's gonna be even more Japanese-y. "thick with cultural elements" sounds that way too me, at least. Either way, I'm a bit more interested now since it's gonna be in modern times. Not gonna lie, the whole knights and castles settings have been getting boring.
I couldn't help but notice the lack of love for Eternia and Rebirth in there. I guess sacrifices had to be made in order to stay within those 30 seconds.
Missing far more than that. Destiny 2, Legendia, Innocence and Hearts are all mothership titles and not in there as well. Kinda sucks we still don't see anything but hopefully they'll actually show some of the actual game at Tales fest next week.

Should be revealed soon
I'm looking forward to it... With intense cautiousness. Both in "Will it be released anywhere but Japan?" and "Will it still feel like a Tales game?"... Say what you will for "Knights" getting boring, Tales of Graces was a amazing game. Not every JRPG series needs to "Modernize" and have Ferrarihuman hybrid Summons and SpaceSuits to appeal to the idiot masses.
I'm going to not mini-rant
I thought ToG was great as well. My second favorite Tales game. I'm just getting a bit tired of the whole medieval era(although in Tales, it's more like medieval/modern hybrids with their clothes and shit). Something in our time(that's how I read it anyway) would be great. Especially since it's an unexplored time for Tales games. Persona and TWEWY games come to mind when I think modern.
Tales of Xillia 2 aka we aint getting it!

Oh, Sorry, The Medieval thing wasn't entirely too you... More or less kinda a mini-rant about FF13 and its Motorcycle Summons. But if it was a Tales game that took place in a FF7/8 type world (Semi-Modern/Futuristic0... I could dig it.
But again, Cautiousness, Optimism! but Cautious.
Edit: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Fuck. Why do they even translate this crap to English (Unofficially or not) if we have no hope of ever seeing it. Just depressing. I should learn Japanese
I don't understand. Is this the "Square did it, so we'll do it too!" logic? I like Xillia, but there are certainly more popular and better Tales games, even recent ones. I guess it'll depend on the cast in this one. Only Milla and Jude's childhood friend were memorable. Fuck the old man
I hope it doesn't use the link character system from the first game. Looking forward to seeing if they make changes to the battle system for the better (mainly fixing bosses so they're just link arte spam). Main char looks pretty badass though, hammers, dual swords and dual guns? Already top tier protag.

Hmm yes? Doesn't that prove what I've just said? Not to mention that FFX-2 is a Squaresoft product...
Yes because my post was directed at you.
