My current build as a 51 DH. Decided on this around the beginning of NM, and so far I've saved my group countless times thanks to my one love, Smoke Screen. My first skill to replace would probably be companion, but at the moment I don't really need anything. Companion will most likely be swapped out for caltrops again on Hell, I foresee a lot more kiting being needed.

in NM i tried doing the popular firebats / soul harvest thing. its pretty strong but also very mana intensive.. and its quite hard to get a good harvest with that many things that can kill you in 1-2 hits nearby.
Using Spirit Walk allows you to Soul Harvest with a bit less chance of dying.

Redid my build as I've leveled

    Current - http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...PjT!Zde!bbbaaa

The combo of fire pit + phantasm is amazing as they both leave stackable aoe pools on the ground. Basically just spam phantasm til oom then fire pit and everything is in a pool of about 6 things. It's insane how quickly things are going down.

I also replaced piece the veil as it doesn't actually seem to be that good because it doesn't appear to add the 20% damage after all other damage is calculated. It seems like a 20% buff to the base damage which is silly because of all the % bonus you also get from int.

It's also getting to the point where I think I may change out zombie dogs for a move evasive move like spirit walk because they just die so quickly. I may bring them back when they get life leech in the 50s which should help.

Also mass hysteria continues to be the best move I have.

I like vault way too much to skip it out of my build. Also find myself liking bola better than grenades.

Smoke screen is an aggro drop and makes you invincible for 2(3 rune) seconds. It also breaks most roots and snares, so far the only exception I've found is Diablo's cage move. Unless you mean you use vault and SS. Depending on the boss I might switch stun bola's in, but in a 2+ party I don't need to that much.

Redid my build for nightmare (WD). Was having trouble with my glass canon, specifically on illusionist champions. This build surprisingly works well, the butcher was easier on nightmare for me than on normal.

Poison build, still running restless giant till I get big stinker rune.

most of my time in NM i was using this
    http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...ViT!WVX!YZZYaZ
you'll find its very life-saving intensive.. because really, its so easy to die in NM if you gear for pure DPS (which was what i ended up doing.. plus its faster to kill stuff)

to chain for damage, i usually find a group of mobs and soul harvest them, then i'd do acid cloud and sacrifice for max damage potential. sacrifice is really the best way to deal quick dmg on a WD i think. i swapped blood ritual in later instead of zombie handler cos i wanted more survivability thru the regen, otherwise its 4 pets. if i go by simple math, thats 275%x4, which is like 1100% damage.

i also cannot stress the importance of spirit vessel. you'll really want to keep this on because it keeps you from dying, which can be very useful to keep the fight going.

the build adjusts according to fights, like bosses.. so for drawn out fights where DoT comes in handy or you need to keep moving (Diablo for eg), i switch my primary to Haunt and let it do its work slowly. Haunt is pretty good for its range and ability to home in on its target.

I'm only on normal but I was thinking zombie dogs pulling shit would become a real problem as difficulties increase. No?

Haven't had this problem EVER so far, but I am only 36. Basically anything to put you between the damage is good. I just hope when they get the life steal move at 56 that it makes them able to survive. If it doesn't I'm going to replace it.

Gotta agree with everyone else so far, stacking Dex on monk is so damn good. Attack speed is really key too though, especially since it's tied to not just damage but also how fast you get spirit (which matters more than usual when fighting big hard mobs)

@ the two other monks above, i would recommend this build here:
    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#WegdTh!YXd!ZZaZaa

basically it's all about enfeebling the enemy and buffing yourself as much as possible. crippling wave's rune is a biggie. 20% attack speed decrease on top of 20% damage decrease is no joke. Wave of light is very expensive, but the aoe radius of the rune is huge, it's my room clearer, which becomes incredibly important later on.
I love having Wave of Light together with Transcendence. The huge cost actually turns into a benefit, since you get healed the more points you spend.

Constant healing from spirit use + breath of heaven (or serenity+peaceful repose) + a quick heal burst from using Wave of Light + the occasional potion if you absolutely need to, and you're pretty much never in a situation where you need health and you're out of ways of getting some. Add that with the dodge bonuses from Mantra of Evasion and Dual Wield + Guardian's Path and you're pretty much set.

Only change I can imagine making to that is possibly swapping one of the passives to One With Everything on higher difficulties

So I've started with Wizard, and f'ing love it. Some growing pains in early Act II, but now it's such a beast!

Here's the build I'm rolling with now http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...iYWX!YX!a.aaZa

I'm considering dumping frost nova or spectral blade for arcane orb as it rips apart large groups of mobs. But I like having some form of crowd control, and blade is handy for those rare times I'm cornered and low on arcane energy. diamond skin + spectral blade is my go to "oh shit" button whenever things get hairy.

Thoughts? I know I'll be getting Archon form in a few lvls, which I'm gonna play around with, and I'm curious what anyone else thinks about slow time. Lots of potential, but I've yet to find it to be more more helpful than frost nova or wave of force.

    This is my build.

Main AoE is for killin with extra range rune. You have impale for single target dps with stun(fucks up bosses) and multi with 1/2 cost rune for AoE. Vault is your mobility with knockback+stun rune on destination so you can vault anywhere. Caltrops is your snare runed to 80% and prep+heal rune is your oh shit need more disc or a heal. I love this build and will probably use it till 60 and beyond.

With my 35 Wizard, I've been running around with Disintegrate with the multi-enemy branch rune, diamond skin with decreased arcane costs, frost nova, and time warp with damage increase. Throw up a time warp, frost nova, hold down disintegrate, everything dies. Archon was fun, but the cooldown was way too long for my liking. I have disintegrate as left click and teleport as right click for those damn wallers or any sort of thing that swells on the ground.

I have been staying away from staves, just because the dmg seems higher, but stuff seems to die quicker when I have a wand. I assume the attack speed matters and isn't calculated in the dps that's displayed for the weapon.

I've been using the cold blooded passive with blizzard, chilling aura, sparkflint familiar, chain lightning and the same disintegrate rune. Pretty much the same deal for me, run into a huge group of mobs with chilling aura and drop a blizzard, then just sit there holding disintegrate for a few seconds while everything dies.

As far as weapons, I've been using a dagger for a long time, but in general I've stuck to 1 handed weapons and a focus, 2 handed weapons seem pretty weak in comparison.

Archon is the shit though, I literally walked into the Azmo fight at level 30 and dropped him in the 15 seconds that Archon lasts.

lvl 30 wiz. this is what I've been using

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...YXV!XZb!a.aZZZ

throw down a blizz, diamond armor up with -arcane cost and destroy shit with laser beams. If stuff gets close freeze em throw out a few tornados blizz and run away to get distance back to re-laser. Been going pretty well so far

Man, I feel like I'm playing wizard completely different than everyone else >_>

    My shitty build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...dXO!abf!baZaaZ

I like orbs, I guess. I'm using a high dps dagger w/ ruby gem to increase my dps, and dagger for the faster attack speed. I shit out thunder orbs super fast now, and they do really good damage and rape shit. My only issue now with this build is that I shoot fast for a bit less damage, which is nice for the thunder orb, but it kinda sucks for the arcane orb since it's such an expensive spell and I run out of arcane power too fast. I tried out blizzard, seemed nice, although I miss the moments where the high damage arcane orb+aoe were really strong. Meh.

My abilities are all pretty much for survivability, and are possibly overkill. Diamond skin is pretty much up 50% of the time, and frost nova and wave of force keeps enemies off me during cooldown. Galvinizing ward/energy armor increase my survivability even more <.< overkill? probably. But hey, made it to nightmare act3 without many problems, so I'm happy with it so far.

edit: just checked in game, and I switched out evocation to astral presence, so it's a little less overkill on survivability
    edit2: also never played diablo2 :D

A little late to the party, but if you're missing out on smoke screen as a DH, you're making your life miserable. It's 3 seconds of invulnerability while you get to shoot stuff and move away/aggro drop. Smoke screen x2 + prep with 60% heal is what you need to survive most if not all fights against champ packs/nameds/bosses in the later parts of hell/inferno. When stuff can kill you in 1-2 hits and you have a way to go invulnerable, i suggest you take it =)

I didn't realize how good smoke was until reading about it on here last night, it's a real life saver.
