it places it where you were standing but allows you to run (as a spirit) through mobs and breaks any CC effect you have on you. the "decoy" it drops doesn't relate any damage to you whatsoever but if it takes 50% of your hp in damage it knocks you out of your spirit form and by that time you're (hopefully) a long ways away.
it doesn't last very long but with the increased run speed it's a great gtfo skill.
SW and SH are pretty much must haves for WD builds. I used Jaunt rune with SW till later when I switched to Honored guest for VQ bear build, then went to the life one for a while and now back to mana for VQ Bears.
SH soul to waste is in all of my builds.
(non hardcore obviously)
Like yourself I really want to play barb and am also very stubborn. I am happy with my choice to roll barb and I would do it again for sure. It feels like they need to change something about revenge. I think they either need to make the proc chance higher or make it heal for a little bit more. They could do that or just give us someway to get higher base resists.
About feeling useful on the barb, when I am in groups all I do is control mobs. I run leap, seismic slam, ground stomp, and taunt. I really do wish I could just leap in with a 2h and do a ton of damage in inferno but that is just not how the class is designed it seems.
Currently using this in Act II Hell. My only problem is a lack of AoE damage. Blizzard is great for kiting but mobs rarely stay in it for the full duration.

I apologize in advance for the Wall-Of-Text.
I just discovered this like 5 minutes ago and I had to tell someone....I promise at least 90% of all of you guys who read this will learn something new about the Monk play style / this game in general if you just read this post.
Super Saiyan AKA W-ING
*inb4 yes I do play with QWER hot keys.
So what I've discovered is if you change any of your PRIMARY ATTACK's hot key to "W"; you can do the following [ Which all combined makes you a Saiyan as a Monk... ] :
Auto Walk : Hold the "W" key and your Monk will walk to where ever your mouse cursor is located.
* "Well I can do that by just holding the "left click".
-The Fool
Its a preference for MMORPG players and FPS players on the PC who wanted to walk with WASD in Diablo. This gets pretty close to that.
TRUELY Auto Attack : If you hover your cursor over a mob while auto-walking, you will automatically attack with the hot keyed skill [ THIS IS WITHOUT SPAMMING ANY CLICKS, just holding "W" ; game registers holding down "W" as spamming it ].
* "Well I can also do that by just holding the "left click"....
- The Fool who won't shut up.
Yeah BUT you have to initiate on the mob with a left click and THEN hold it down to auto attack. Then you have to release your left click to get out of combat and retreat if necessary or initiate on another mob somewhere else. You can do ALL of that by just holding down the W key and you dont need to release it ever or *click your mouse.
*Click once away from the mob to exit the middle of combat, thats it.
Why is holding "W" 100X better than holding the left click & makes me a Saiyan?
1. You don't need to hover over a mob and left click to initiate an auto-attack. While W-Walking you just hover the mouse over the target to start auto-attacking.
*Tip: Works very well to dodge spells i.e Freeze/Arcane Lasers from "Special/Elite Mobs" and re-auto attack swfitly.
*Tip: Works well with Treasure Goblins too, instead of spamming left clicks and missing sometimes as a melee hero. Just hold the W key the whole time and keep your mouse hovering over the Goblin. You wont ever miss again.
2. You can combine it with another primary which is hot keyed with your left-click and WHILE you are auto attacking with your "W" you can left click the mob that you are ALREADY hovering over to attack with your other primary whenever you please.
*Tip: If you spam the left click while W-Attacking, it pretty much breaks the game's attack animations and you attack with both primaries consecutively with minimal down time...
*Pro-Tip: If you W-Attack with "Fist of Thunder" with the "Thunderclap Rune"; you can auto-attack and teleport to all the mobs on your screen without spamming your left clicks, or clicking on them individually, and you wont by accident pick up that !@#$ty white item that shouldn't be in your inventory.
4. Less stress on your index finger......lol.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All in all, this isnt suppose to make you a better player in anyway. Its more of a possible preference and convenience. W-ing isn't limited to just the Monk but its just the class I've tried it out on so far and its work miraculously.
Put a primary skill on one of your 4 skill bars and then change the hot key to W or whatever you please.
Fun thing to play with when farming.
How come you guys don't use Disintegrate with volatility for Wizard? With AOE 400% weapon damage when they explode (35% chance) it brings everything else low which gives you like 5+ guys ready to also explode dealing a ton of damage to everything, it's like cascading damage. I haven't found a faster way to clear out packs of enemies, at least from my inferno run, just starting hell now.
I like to keep a constant rain of blizzard going to make kiting easier and Disintegrate just eats at my arcane power. Also regular mobs rarely give me an issue and the huge single target damage on Ray combined with its low cast cost makes it perfect for taking out bosses. I'll give disintegrate a try and see if I can make it work.
I almost always swap to the ray of frost that stacks to 280% damage for bosses that don't have lots of AOE required. For kiting I like to use the hydra that does aoe arcane damage and have that ability that slows by 30% from arcane damage (I'm not even certain if the hydra's arcane adds slow but disintegrate is arcane so they are all slowed anyway) so kiting isn't too difficult especially since my shoes have +12% movement.
OH MY GOD BLARG I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME WITH YOU. OH MY GOD
are you on my level? Can you shoot orbs and stuff from your hands?
Orbs? I shoot fuckin' galaxies from my hand! I never thought to throw the slow perk on for Disintegrate, great idea.
Any Witch Doctors on/finished inferno? I'm about 1/2 way through act 2 and it's getting a little frustrating. ( mainly due to no money to upgrade rings )
I've got 17k damage on 2h, and running a poison dart splinter + grasp of the dead type setup for glass cannon kiting, seems the only viable way at the moment.

Ive been using this to handle higher end packs and bosses. I run in and go super saiyan and pop brothers if there are adds (currently DW, level 34).
also does having a high level join your game mess up your drop rates. I was killing skeleton king with a friend yesterday (at my level, hadnt killed him before) this high level friend joined accidentally, apologized and left, but we only got blues to drop from SK
So how the fuck do I play DH now without smokescreen? I was using a glass cannon relying on smokescreen for survival, but it appears that they nerfed it.
You still use smoke screen, anticipate attacks and use it, kite, if theres a waller, don't use it til you get walled in. May want to spec for 60% run speed during smoke screen.
I'm on inferno.. and currently using this.

its my WD tank setup.
highly gear dependent, but then again it IS inferno. I use the strongest Life on Hit + Life Leech weapon I can afford, then pile on defensive stats as much as I can, including INT where I can.
every skill in my book is basically defensive.
firebomb for health leeching,
soul harvest is the most important for damage increase. its a great health restoration move too.
zombie dogs die pretty fast, so I usually summon them to blow up straight away.
acid cloud to weaken the enemies attacks + a bit of health leech.
and spirit walk to break out of CC statuses and get out of a tight situation.
the general strat is hoarding all the mobs together to slowly AoE to death, which is somewhat trickier in inferno, but i might adjust it along the way.
my biggest problem isnt surviving but dealing damage fast enough lol
mainly farming hell for money and better gear first... and can pretty much straight tank everything there.
edit: oh except desecrators, arcane and fire chains, which require some degree of movement. plague not so much.
